Intel Corp. has added three new mobile chips into the family but did it quietly without announcing any statements on the news and without including them into the official price-list too.
Three new additions to the mobile processor family are :-
- Intel Pentium-M 780 (High-end)
- Operates at 2.26GHz at full power.
- 2MB of L2 cache
- 533MHz Front Side Bus (FSB)
- 27W Thermal Design Power (TDP)
- 90nm Technology
- Contains special architecture enhancements in addition to Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) support
- Built-in Execute Disable Bit (EDB) security capability - Intel Pentium Low-Voltage 778 (Low-power)
- Operates at 1.60GHz
- 2MB L2 cache
- 400MHz Front Side Bus (FSB)
- 10W TDP (What ?? 10W !! :-O )
- 90nm Technology
- Features EIST, EDB too - Intel Celeron M 380 (Value mobile computers)
- Operates at 1.60GHz
- 1MB L2 cache
- 400MHz Front Side Bus (FSB)
- 90nm Technology
- EDB capability
- NOT supporting EIST
Pricing of the new mobile processors was not disclosed at Intel’s web-site. However, according to source, it is very likely that the new chips will cost in 1000-unit quantities as the followings :-
- Pentium-M 780 > USD$637
- Pentium M LV 778 > USD$284
- Celeron M 380 > USD$134
