A number of bloggers was discussing about the latest search service launched by Google, Google Blog Search on Wednesday September 14, 2005. It gives us the ease to search for any entry that the blogger has written. It depends on how fast the entry has been indexed, sometimes even within 1 hour the post was published.

While Skype was acquired by eBay and hope to drive up the volume of its auction sales, Google Blog Search may serve as a tool to boost the sale of Google AdSense. This thought came into my mind after reading the news of the new search service launched. Then my thought was echoed after reading an article written about the same thought too.
There are many valid reasons Google took this step to launch such search, the following are what I can think of :-
- I can say more than 40% of the blogs are using Google AdSense, which is one of the main source of Google’s income.
- Google keeps track of those who submitted their blogs’ entries to Google Sitemaps.
- The easier people to reach a blog with AdSense, the more Google will earn from AdSense.
Smaller companies, such as Technorati, Icerocket and Feedster, have offered similar search services for awhile before Google. However, I believe even though Google is not the first search engine to offer blog search, due to the advantage of its Google Sitemaps, they would probably provide a more comprehensive search.

And I want to boast (LOL) that if one key in ‘Malaysia’, they get my food blog. And if key in Penang, get my personal blog. Woohoo!
LoL … I want that too.
Hmm…what are the ways to get higher spots on the blog search? Are they using the same way as how Google search rank their search results?
IMHO, I think PageRank plays an important role in the blog ranking too. Afterall, PageRank is one of the most important factor in Google Search to date.
By the way, I think submitting your blog entries via Google Sitemaps may help in the search results too. This is because Google will track the every entry you have submitted according to its importance level.
If you have not submitted your blog entry via Google Sitemaps, feel free to drop a comment here. I’ll try to work out a simple tutorial for Wordpress users.
I haven’t submitted mine yet…. If you could post up the tutorial, it’ll be very useful for all the blog users out there. But somehow, my blog in Blogsome was ranked first yesterday and today when I checked, it has dropped to the 2nd page. Weird…
By the way, a bit OT here…but which plugin do you use for the Flag icon beside everyone’s nickname? Cheers!
Ok, I’ll try my best to gather the info regarding Google Sitemaps for both Wordpress and any other blog. Then I’ll start writing the tutorial. Stay tuned.
As for the small lil flag, it’s a plugin called IP2Nation.
Cool…thanks for the plugin. Looking forward to read your tutorial guide. =)
No problem, Andrew.
By the way, I just sent a very good friend to the airport this morning, who will be working in Blackpool soon. I think he is now on the plane heading to the UK. Glad to meet someone from the UK in my blog, while i’m missing one of my best buddy.
Wow…you’re such a good friend. I wish I have buddies missing me too.
What is he working as by the way?
Guess if you are coming to Malaysia for a long period, your buddies will sure miss you too.
By the way, he will be helping his relative in a restaurant.
Hey, sorry for late reply.
By the way, I think you misunderstood something. I’m actually a Malaysian studying in the UK.. So yeah… But anyway, life in UK isn’t all good, things can get pretty tough at times.
I see. I thought you are a UK citizen.
Anyway, wish you all the best in the UK.
Thanks for the good wishes. Keep up your good work too.
Oh no, not disappointed at all.
I have visitors from all over the world, some from Spain, India, China, of course not to mention the UK, the US, etc. In fact, I welcome everyone wholeheartedly.
Thanks for your compliment too.
