Link To Red Cross

Sunday 11 September 2005 @ 2:42 am

Red Cross
Well, I might be a bit late to put up the donation banner for Red Cross Organization for the aid to Katrina victim. I hope it’s late batter than never.

There you see a triangular banner on the top right hand corner which directly link to the Red Cross Organization. This little piece of fine work was create by Alvey and he posted the script and the image in his blog, so that you may put the same banner up onto your blog or website as well.

The integration of the code into WordPress is easy. Just paste it into your footer.php after uploading the banner image to the server.

Slight Adjustment On Google Page Rank

Saturday 10 September 2005 @ 11:29 am

Not sure, if anyone of you noticed there was a slight adjustment on Google Page Rank.

Basically, Google Page Rank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. The higher it is, the more important/famous the webpage is. Page Rank can be applied not only to the homepage of each website, it is meaningful to a particular webpage as well.

Yesterday (or the day before), Google made a slight adjustable to some of the websites, after confirming with a few bloggers. However, my Page Rank is still at PR4, nothing much has changed. Some of my blogging buddies have gone up at most one level.

How about yours?

There are various online tools to check Page Rank, this is one of those. :)

eBay To Acquire Skype

Saturday 10 September 2005 @ 2:36 am

SkypEbay
The speculation of eBay is going to acquire Skype has been spreading for the last few days. I think this might be a real fact in coming days.

The giant online auction site, eBay, is reportedly approached VoIP communication provider, Skype about a possible acquisition. The deal would be USD$2 billionUSD$3 billion.

We might think VoIP communication is outside the scope of eBay’s core business and why eBay is interested in Skype? I think Skype will be a great place for eBay to advertise its auction products, while providing a platform for the bidder and owner to communicate. If this acquisition is for real, I’m sure some added features like checking auction details through Skype will be integrated. This will certainly turn Skype to another communication tool for online buyers.

ROKR

As mentioned in the earlier post about iTunes enabled phone, Motorola announced the launch of its iTunes enabled mobile phone, Motorola ROKR, yesterday, September 8, 2005. By the way, ROKR is pronounced as “rocker”.

The Motorola ROKR is the world’s first mobile phone with iTunes, offering the feature of transferring up to 100 songs from the iTunes jukebox to the mobile phone. The Motorola ROKR will pause the music automatically when user is taking a call and it offers the ability to listen to music while checking messages or snapping a photo.

There is a strange limitation as Apple and Motorola have an agreement that limits the number of songs allowed on a card to 100. However, users can create multiple 512MB SD memory cards with different playlists.

For the time being, the Motorola ROKR only available in the following countries :-

  • the U.S.
  • the U.K.

Happy Belated Birthday, Google !!

Friday 9 September 2005 @ 2:09 am

Google
ArggGg….

I am 2 days late to wish Google happy birthday. Perhaps late better than never. :p

In fact, Google should be celebrating its 7th birthday this year as its official birthday is September 7, 1998. From an underdog to Yahoo search engine in those days to the leader of search engine now, Google has gone through all sorts of improvements and invented all sorts of innovative services for us, free of charge !!

Here I wish Google from the bottom of my heart to have a bright future ahead and keep on inventing new and useful services while sustaining the edge that they are having in the industry now.

Happy Belated Birthday, my beloved Google. :)
