A Glance On Windows Vista

Friday 29 July 2005 @ 11:58 am

Come take a glance on a few screen shots of the next version of Windows – Windows Vista.

1.) A redesigned Start Menu in Windows Vista, which allows users to type the name of the application they wish to open. This feature will definitely save some of my time because I have more than 30 applications installed. :D

2.) The Pictures and Video folder in Windows Vista contains new information about a picture. Information such as the type of camera used and a user-assigned rating will be shown.

3.) The Virtual Folders feature in Windows Vista allows users to view documents that share a specific criterion, such as “edited in the last week” or “containing the word ‘budget.'” This is like categorizing files based on some specific queries.

4.) Improved version of desktop search abilities in Windows Vista. The search function shows different files types in categories.

Yup, we have not seen something really astonishing, except some news about IE7, support of RSS.

Hopefully, Microsoft will reveal more about Windows Vista soon. :)

Nice! I like the interface… But from what I’ve read, MS Longhorn requires quite a powerful PC to work… My hopes are dashed! :(

According to Microsoft, minimum system requirements will not be known until summer 2006 at the earliest. However, some fundamental specifications are as follows :-

512MB or more of RAM :-O
A dedicated graphics card with DirectX® 9.0 support
A modern, Intel Pentium- or AMD Athlon-based PC

    Another memory eater !! :-<
    Not everyone has 512MB, right?

Something came into my mind >> let’s switch to Linux !!

You see, since the system requirements is quite high, and also we need compulsary piracy check now, don’t you think it’s time to switch? :D
