Best PC Mod : I Got Intel Outside

Saturday 1 October 2005 @ 8:44 am

Well, we have seen lots of PC modifications all year long. We have even seen Apple Mac Mini modification, which fits a Mac Mini into a toy Millennium Falcon few weeks back.

Usually when we talk about PC modification, we will think of how to design the PC casing and the components placing in the PC case. The following PC modification I want to show is by far the first PC modification I have seen that has a concept of “think out of the box“.

Wall Crawler

The Wall Crawler PC is one of the contestants of the ExtremeTech Crazy Case Mod Contest. This creative modding idea was submitted by Joe Cefalu.

Well, of course to stick all PC components on the wall was not easy, because not every component has holes to get screwed on the wall. Thus, he used a product called “Industrial Velcro“, a 4 inch strip, that claimed will hold up 40 pounds to a rough concrete or brick wall.

This modded PC has the following specifications :-

  • Processor : P4 2.53MHz 533FSB
  • Motherboard : High end Intel D865GBF
  • RAM : 1 GIG DDR333
  • Harddisk : one Western Digital 200GB and one 120GB Seagate Barracuda
  • Graphic card : Radeon ATI 9200 128 MB
  • Sound card : Creative Audigy LS THX
  • Optical devices : BUSLINK 52X CDRW drive, NEC 1300A 4X DVD burner
  • Power supply :Enermax 400 watt dual power redundant system

The modded system does use Cooler Master system for cooling purpose. For me, I think it is necessary to have only normal cooling system if you have the modded PC in an air-conditioned room or having a table fan facing at it, like what I do. :p

Anyway, this modded PC claimed to have a temperature at least 25% cooler than inside a PC case.

See more snap shots of this modded PC.

این محصول جالب از شرکت ExtremeTech Crazy Case Mod Contest با نام The Wall Crawler PC است. اطلاعات سیستم: • Processor : P4 2.53MHz 533FSB • Motherboard : High end Intel D865GBF • RAM : 1 GIG DDR333 • Harddisk : one Western Digital 200GB and one 120GB Seagate Barracuda • Graphic card : Radeon ATI 9200 128 MB • Sound card : Creative Audigy LS THX • Optical devices : BUSLINK 52X CDRW drive, NEC 1300A 4X DVD burner • Power supply :Enermax 400 watt dual power redundant system […]

Very brialliant idea indeed. The components will gain dust pretty fast and failed to function. Haha…
