Build-To-Order Laptop For Malaysian

Monday 24 October 2005 @ 9:49 pm

Hey guys, my apologies for not conveying interesting news to you all for more than 24 hours. I was quite busy in the last few day, finally it’s over now.

Well, here is a an interesting one for local readers. We, Malaysian, can now build our own laptop with components that we select based on particular specifications we need, not to mention based on our budget too. I know we can customize any laptop model from major laptop manufacturer or retailer, but the options available are often not comprehensive enough to suit all kinds of laptop users. So, here comes the idea of launching the Build-to-Order Notebook Campaign by Genuine C&C (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

This campaign is a collaboration effort with some IT firms, namely:-

  • Intel Electronics (Malaysia) – main sponsor
  • Microsoft (Malaysia) – supreme partner
  • A-DATA Technology – co-partner
  • Seagate Singapore International Headquarters – co-partner

According to this campaign, the concept of this campaign is to increase consumers’ awareness on the variety of choices they have access, providing them flexibility in choosing what they want and how they want it. Somehow or rather, I don’t see any freedom in customizing components as most of the firms involved already have their own products to fit into the laptop. Take for instance, you can’t mix and match a laptop with Linux OS and AMD processor. Nevertheless, this campaign is good in the sense of providing another alternative to customize your laptop.

Build-to-Order Notebook is available throughout the whole Malaysia, so do check out the retailer in your area. :)

I suppose one of the advantage they have is the retailers network which covers all states in Malaysia. :)
