AMD
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) claimed 11.2% of the market for x86 server chips in the second quarter of 2005. This is believed to be a major milestone for the company to capture 50% share of the processor market by 2015.

AMD Chip In New Fujitsu Siemens PC

Thursday 14 July 2005 @ 1:49 am

Fujitsu-Siemens
After filing suit against Intel 2 weeks ago , AMD finds its chips taking a prominent place in PC market as Fujitsu Siemens has launched new PC with AMD chip. :)

Fujitsu-Siemens is taking orders for Esprimo E small form-factor PC and Esprimo P tower models with AMD processors, and will ship them at the end of the month to customers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, according to Fujitsu-Siemens spokesperson Sabine Twest. For more information of Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo E and P models, please visit their product webpage.

In the lawsuit filed June 28 in the U.S., AMD wrote that its chips once powered over 30 percent of Fujitsu-Siemens’ consumer PCs, but that in early 2003, they claimed that “Intel offered Fujitsu-Siemens a ‘special discount’ on Celeron processors which Fujitsu-Siemens accepted in exchange for hiding its AMD computers on its website and removing all references to commercial AMD-powered products in the company’s retail catalog.” Seems that, Fujitsu-Siemens scared of the lawsuit. =))
