Share Wireless Broadband Using Maxis WiFi Modem (E5832)

Wednesday 23 February 2011 @ 8:07 pm

If you are a wireless broadband user, you might come across the following situation when you want to share the broadband connection to more than 1 device. Most of the wireless broadband modems in the market allow you to make connection from only one device at one time. So if you want to access the same wireless broadband service on 2 or more devices, you’ll need unplug the modem from one device then plug it to another. This is quite inconvenient especially when you need to switch between the devices regularly.

Maxis WiFi Modem (E5832) is designed to solve the above problem by allowing you to share the wireless broadband through WiFi connection to up to 5 devices simultaneously. The modem is very easy to operate, let me show you in the video below :-

Naughty Toys – A Stop Motion Video Shot Entirely Using Nokia N8

Thursday 3 February 2011 @ 11:55 am

After more than 2 weeks from preparation to post production, my entry for #N8Productions has finally completed. It is a stop motion video that I named it as Naughty Toys.

This 3-minute video took me more than 30 hours of photo & video shooting, a consecutive 7 days of 5 hours shooting daily. It took another 30 hours of tedious post production such as arranging the photos, video editing, sounds editing, dubbing the voices of all 8 characters, etc. A total of more than 650 photos and 20 minutes of short videos were taken to create the stop motion video.

I personally need to thank my good friend, Alex Tye, for allowing me to use his precious figures for shooting and his room as shooting venue. Another friend of mine, Jensen Woo, was very kind too to lend me some Transformers figures for practice before the shooting session. This video won’t be completed without them.

If you like the video, please feel free to visit N8 Producers page and click the “like” button to support this video.
Thanks you so much!

Nokia N8 : Connect to Sony NEX3 dSLR Camera Using USB On-The-Go

Wednesday 24 November 2010 @ 1:33 am

I’ve always been looking for a way to connect a phone and a camera without the need of a PC for instant sharing and backup. Finally, I found my answer 2 days ago when I had a crazy thought to connect my Nokia N8 to Sony NEX3 dSLR camera using USB On-The-Go.

Nokia N8 : Connect To Sony NEX3 dSLR Camera Using USB OnTheGo

Nokia N8 has a cool feature called USB On-The-Go, which enables the user to connect the phone to USB storage devices such as thumb drive, mobile phone, etc. So, I thought why not try to connect the N8 to my camera and see if they recognize each other. To my surprise, both devices connected without a problem and the N8 was able to read all files in the camera.

I love to travel and one of the problems I always have while traveling is to worry that my camera will run out of storage space. With the USB On-The-Go feature of Nokia N8, I don’t have to worry about this problem anymore because I can now backup my photos from Sony NEX3 to the phone’s 16GB storage (expandable to 48GB) without the need of a PC or laptop.

On top of that, I can instantly share any photo in my camera across the Internet via Twitter, Flickr or Facebook directly from the storage of the camera as well! How often after you snapped an amazing picture with your digital camera but found out that you can’t tweet it from the digital camera? Now you can, using Nokia N8!

Watch the video below to see it in action :-

You like this cool feature of Nokia N8 too?

Samsung Galaxy S : Homescreen & Applications Page In Landscape Mode

Friday 24 September 2010 @ 8:03 pm

I just found a bug in Samsung Galaxy S that will show the homescreen and applications page in landscape mode.

Samsung Galaxy S : Homescreen & Applications Page In Landscape Mode

By default, both the homescreen and application page are in portrait mode and we are not able to tilt the screen into landscapre mode by rotating the phone. After my discovery of this landscape mode in both views I think Samsung fixed the UI (User Interface) on purpose which I find no apparent reason of doing so.

Below is the video I took to show you how the homescreen and applications page look in landscape mode :-

I would love to have the ability to change the orientation by tilting the phone, hopefully we’ll see this landscape mode in Froyo (Android 2.2).
