Wednesday 30 November 2005 @ 12:44 pm

Firefox1.5
We have been waiting for this moment to come anxiously since the last Release Candidate version of Firefox (Firefox 1.5RC3) on November 17, 2005. Now the final version of Firefox 1.5 is available. Previously, we can reach the download page of Firefox from either www.getfirefox.com or www.spreadfirefox.com, but now all these websites will be directed to the main page of www.mozilla.com, which is the developer of the famous Firefox.

Since quite a number of bloggers have already talked about the release of Firefox 1.5 in PPS by providing the download link and some introduction of the new features, I will skip those parts as you can read it from the link.

I, Myself just downloaded Firefox 1.5 and started playing with it to see what are the new features and stuffs. I found out most of the themes are not compatible with this latest version. Out of 8 themes I have, only 2 have the latest compatible version, they are Noia 2.0 (eXtreme) and Aquatint. Anyway, you still can download whichever compatible themes that suit you from the themes page.

Mozilla Foundation Turns Corporation

Tuesday 9 August 2005 @ 12:33 am

Mozilla Foundation, the maker of Firefox web browser, will become Mozilla Corporation in the announcement on last Wednesday, August 3, 2005. In other words, it will be a wholly-owned subsidiary that will continue the development, distribution and marketing of Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird.

Don’t worry, dude. Mozilla Foundation ensures you there will not be any big difference after this transformation.

Quoted:
The change will not affect the day-to-day development of Mozilla, with the current system of module owners, drivers, reviewers and super-reviewers staying in place. End-users are unlikely to notice any difference either, though the Mozilla Foundation and the Mozilla Corporation will eventually have separate websites. At the moment, only Firefox and Thunderbird will be developed under the auspices of the Mozilla Corporation; other projects, such as Camino and SeaMonkey, will continue to be overseen by the Mozilla Foundation.

Thursday 4 August 2005 @ 1:00 pm

As Firefox supporters, we always argue that Firefox is a better and more secure browser over Internet Explorer. More secure in the sense of less security flaws, I suppose. Somehow this argument is not right based on statistical data provided by a security advisory service, Secunia, at least for this year, 2005.

Quoted:
The report in the UK-based IT trade publication states: “There have now been more flaws in the Firefox browser this year than in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.”
