Google Talk Launched !!

Wednesday 24 August 2005 @ 4:01 pm

Google Talk
Ok guys, here is another Instant Messenger (IM) launched in the past 2 weeks. First, we saw Yahoo IM 7.0 2 weeks ago, then the launch of MSN Messenger 7.5 in the previous post, now Google Talk Beta !!

Since the launch of Google Gmail, I started hoping Google release it own IM like Yahoo and MSN do, with email notification. Too many IM So, right after I heard about Google Talk is finally launched, immediately I downloaded and installed it. But then I found that I have too many IM in my PC, since when I on my PC for the sake of chatting? :p

Anyway, Google Talk does not have too many features to play with. The major features are instant messaging, making voice call, sending email and email notification. Don’t worry if you already have Google Official Gmail Notifier installed, the installation process will help you to uninstall it. There is NO smiley or emoticon and the interface is plain and simple, I think this is due to it’s only in Beta testing phase.

Let’s get started with Google Talk now. :)

Tuesday 26 July 2005 @ 4:27 pm

Just posted 3 articles about Google Maps last week. Now it’s their bitter rival, MSN Virtual Earth’s, turn. :)

This is rather not a good news, but a weird one, i guess. :D If you have time, take a look of the snapshot from MSN Virtual Earth at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters, then have a look of the snapshot from Google Maps.

Good news to J2ME mobile phone users !!

Now you can view Google Map in your mobile phone using Mobile GMaps. :)

You are able to view “Jesus Face” in you mobile phone too. LoL !!

According to the developer of this great application, Mobile GMaps is a free piece of software that displays Google Maps and Keyhole satellite imagery on Java J2ME-enabled mobile phones or other devices, such as Blackberry, Palm, Pocket PC, etc. One thing good about Mobile GMap is it runs on devices that support CLDC 1.0 and MIDP 1.0 or later. In other words, it supports old generation Java J2ME phone, like my Nokia 6610 !!

Google Toolbar For FireFox

Saturday 9 July 2005 @ 2:08 pm
Google FireFox Toolbar

On Thursday July 7, 2005, Google launched their beta version of Google Toolbar for Firefox !! Finally it is released as Google previously only offered a toolbar for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

The toolbar offers a Google search box (though this feature by default appears in FireFox :D ), search news articles, page rank, spell check, translator, and Google’s AutoLink that turns street addresses into links to a map. Page Rank Personally I like the page rank and translator feature. With Gooegle Toolbar now we just have to point to the word then the translation of the word will appear, useful and come in handy. The green bar in the page rank feature gives you an idea of how high the webpage you are viewing is ranked in Google.

Quoted:
“Not that long ago, the Google Firefox Toolbar team met for the first time – and now we’ve built the Google Toolbar for Firefox in 10 languages for three operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux),” said Tech Lead Justin Voskuhl in the Google Blog.
