Tuesday 10 October 2006 @ 7:35 pm

Google
Well, I might be a few hours late to blog about this news, but it’s still worth writing. Google has finally ended the speculation of acquiring youtube.com, which already been raised over and over again for the past few months.

Seeing youtube is already serving more than 100 million videos everyday, Google decided to be the leader of online video hosting service in a quick way – by acquiring youtube.com for USD$1.65 Billion! In other words, in this purchase Google has beaten the potential buyers included Yahoo and Microsoft Corp. and media giants News Corp., owner of MySpace.com, and MTV owner Viacom Inc.

Google PageRank Is Updating

Sunday 1 October 2006 @ 1:18 am

Hi all,

It’s been a long time I didn’t update this blog. I’m so so sorry about that.

Anyway, I’m back to blogging and again come back with a good news to all webmasters.

Google is updating its PageRank (PR) at the moment throughout all its datacenters around the globe. In case you are concerning about the PageRank of your websites, you might wanna check out this tool from SEOLog. If you see any difference among the PRs shown in all datacenters, your website might have a new PR soon. Please note that not all datacenters updated the PR, that’s why you’ll see different numbers (if there is any changes of your PR).

To those who will be having higher PR, congratulations!
Sorry for those who might be dropping some PR. Don’t be too sad, instead work on it and I’m sure you’ll have good result for the next PR update.

Until I clear all 2,197 spam comments, I will be back blogging frequently again!
Have a nice day, everyone!

Google Finance – Personal Online Finance Website

Wednesday 22 March 2006 @ 1:14 pm

I stopped blogging for 1 week or so but Google just can’t stop releasing new services. Here is another great one.

Google FinanceGoogle launched its latest service yesterday called Google Finance. It’s an online financial news portal that provides corporate news, information and graphs, and blog entries regarding the specific stock you are looking for. I believe this new Google service is going into direct competition withYahoo Finance, which I patrol quite frequently for stock information. The reason behind launching this cool service is the increase in Internet usage by investors in searching for stock information.

Tips To Search Special Search Items

Sunday 26 February 2006 @ 3:18 am

Well, usually we use major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN or Ask Jeeves to search whatever we need on the Internet. What if we are looking for something special and can’t manage to find via these search engines?

I came across at least 3 search engines which respectively target different niche search items, one is specialized as Photo Search Engine, another is Programming Code Search Engine and another is Mobile Content Search Engine by Nokia.

RiyaLet me start with the first one of a kind search engine, Riya – The Next Generation Photo Search Engine. Well, of course I know Google has its images search feature as well but Riya uses proprietary face and text recognition which can intelligently recognize each and every instance of that person or place in the photo.

Quoted:
Riya’s bag of tricks is pretty big–besides looking at facial features, it also examines people’s clothing to help recognize individuals in multiple pictures. It does subtle analysis of the timestamps on photos to help it make further intelligent guesses about who’s who. And it also does optical recognition of signs and other text in pictures (if you’re wearing a nametag, it may be able to read it).

Wanna try it out now? Take a tour at Riya’s website now.

Google Store – Buy Google Related Products

Saturday 25 February 2006 @ 4:38 pm

Oppss… Another Google related news, can’t help it.

Google StoreGoogle Store is not a new site operated by Google because I have seen it back in 2004. Google Store (googlestore.com) used to be located at google-store.com and the homepage with a map of the world is a new addition to the website.

Google Store Map
Where is the U.K.?

Something bizarre is that the map on the homepage doesn’t not show some countries including the advanced U.K., Madagascar, Iceland, Greenland, Cuba, etc. Even the victim of tsunami, Sri Lanka, also missing from the map. The map designer might need to take a geographic class and remedy it. :p

Anyway, some Google related products are available in Google Store including accessories, fun stuffs, kids wear, office accessories, wearables, software and even server hardware. Only software is free in Google Store and those software can be downloaded from Google Pack as well.
