Weekly Highlights [Sep 26, 2005 – Oct 2, 2005]

First of all, my apologies for couldn’t get the weekly highlight for last week posted on Monday as usual. It was a busy week last week, with a few assignments and stuffs on hand to work on. However, I still managed to keep the pace of writing at least one post a day. One thing I am so glad to see is in the whole month of September, I managed to keep 100% record of posting at least one post a day. That’s one of the targets I set for myself.

Anyway, here goes the weekly highlight :-

Monday
Last Monday, when I was playing with the with the Google AdSense feature in Blogger.com, the connection made when I was refreshing the site triggered me to write a post about Google applies Urchin on Blogger.com.

Tuesday
I saw one of the Google free service, Google Web Accelerator, reopen for download, then I quickly blogged about it. Unfortunately this service again stopped taking new users after just around 6 hours since reopening. Besides, another breaking news of the day was the offer of cheap USD$2.99/year domain name by Yahoo!.

Wednesday
I shared with you guys a really brilliant flash website, which truly amazed me with the fast loading speed and nice design.

Thursday
I never thought Google was the one behind for making Opera web browser a freeware, before I read a source suggesting Google handed a kind of compensation deals to Opera Software, in order to be the main built-in search engine for the web browser.

Friday
Last week, Nokia released one of its music phones, Nokia 3250, which allows you to twist the rotatable bottom of the phone 270-degree (-90 and +180 degrees) to switch between functionalities.

Saturday
I saw an interesting PC modding, which has the concept of “think out of the box” that exposes all its components instead on putting them into a casing.

Sunday
You won’t believe a car can fly by itself, until you see SkyCar. :)

Within last week, I have a total of 5 friends had their birthdays. So, here I wish them again a Happy Belated Birthday and all the best in their future undertaking.

Here goes the summary of what have I written last week.

Monday
After a few days of the launch of Google Blog Search, I shared some thoughts of why actually Google launched such searching service. Of course, those are just my personal thoughts. :)

Tuesday
Google has launched numerous free tools in the past few weeks, last Tuesday Google started giving free donwload of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) tools for secure broadband access, named Google Secure Access. Another good news for Internet surfers on the same day, when Opera Software announced the free download of Ad-Free Opera web browser.

Wednesday
I managed to share only 1 article last Wednesday, which is the innovative Pizza Fork and Cutter designed by Miles Kimball.

Thursday
After we heard the news of free Opera web browser, Mozilla announced its latest FireFox release, FireFox 1.0.7. This new release includes some critical security patches, so, it’s recommended to update you Firefox version. Well known Telco, Sprint, announced the launch of the first Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 based PDA phone in the US, PCS Vision Smart Device PPC-6700.

Friday
Upon request, I tried to show a short tutorial of how to create sitemap for your blog using online tools, so that you can submit the sitemap to Google Sitemap in order to boost ranking and traffic in Google Blog Search. After that, I shared the history of Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE). On the same day, I found out that IE’s closest rival, Mozilla Firefox, has gone pass 90 Million downloads mark !!

Saturday
I come across a similar website to YaGoohoogle, called BaiGoo.com. From the domain name, you know it is a website that allows you to search in both Baidu.com and Google.com under one website.

Sunday
Now, with the new AdSense feature offered in Blogger.com, a free blogging service by Google, earning money via blogging has never been easier.




Weekly Highlights [Sep 12, 2005 – Sep 18, 2005]

Another hectic week past, nothing special happened in real life, but there were some breaking news going on for the past 7 days. Let’s take a glance of what actually happened.

Monday
I shared a very nice Error 404 page I have come across, after that I did my own simple Error 404. In case, you want to check out my Error 404 page, just simply add any letter at the end of the URL in your address bar, then press enter. :)

Tuesday
We knew eBay sealed the deal of acquiring Skype by paying Skype for USD$2.6 billion in cash ans stock. Besides, we saw what could be the first Apple iPod Nano hack after just one week of the initial launch of the mp3 player.

Wednesday
There was a post about a Zippo lighter style digital camera which can fit itself into a Zippo lighter case.

Thursday
I discovered a new design of the famous Start button of Windows Operating System in Windows Vista. Moreover, I shown you some pictures of Google’s hardware setup in the early days when Google was formed.

Friday
I shared with you all a thought of mine regarding the integration of Google AdSense into Google Talk. Then, I wrote about the USD$1.99 domain name offer by GoDaddy.

Saturday
A bad news for Baidu, as it was sued by four largest record companies for copyright infringement of mp3 songs. On the same day, Yahoo launched a similar service to Google Suggest, which Yahoo named as Yahoo Instant Search.

Sunday
I did a compilation of some secret Google Search interfaces. I posted an article regarding the latest critical security flaw found on IE, which could possibly be exploited remotely from other PCs.




Weekly Highlights [Sep 5, 2005 – Sep 11, 2005]

Over the past one week, there are a few new products and services launched. Among those products are Motorola’s iTunes enabled phone and Apple iPod Nano, while there was one new service launched locally, another paid TV service MiTV. Even though, last week was a busy week for me, still I manage to keep 2 posts a day until Sunday.

Let’s see what have I wrote.

Monday
I wrote an article about a stylish handmade PC casing made by oak hardwood and 1/4″ amber-tinted plexiglass. It is really elegant yet simple. Besides, there were news sources suggested the forthcoming Windows OS, Windows Vista, will have a new restart manager called “Freeze Dry“, which helps in installing patches without forcing user to reboot the machine.

Tuesday
Before the iTunes phone was launched, there were at least 3 mobile phone operators around the globe, including Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile and O2, are eager about offering service to the mobile phone. Then you saw the images of the impact of Hurricane Katrina shown on Google Earth service.

Wednesday
I shared an article regarding a full guide of FireFox tweaking. It is very useful if you would like your web browser to perform at its best. Then we saw an alternative of paid TV service was finally here in Malaysia with the introduction of MiTV.

Thursday
On last Thursday, a controversial post was publish regarding an Ultra Super Laptop, which has 6.8Ghz CPU, 1TB RAM and 2TB storage. Some say it is fiction, what do you think? Then we saw a brand new product from Apple, Apple iPod Nano.

Friday
I was 26 hours late to greet Google for its 7th birthday. As scheduled, the Motorola iTunes phone was launched last Friday.

Saturday
Speculation saying eBay is going to acquire Skype has been spreading for the past week, so I blogged about it too. On the same day, after checking with fellow bloggers, there was a slight adjustment on Google Page Rank.

Sunday
As usual, Sunday is always the least productive day. I just managed to put up a short tutorial of putting a Red Cross banner on the top of your blog or website.




Weekly Highlights [Aug 29, 2005 – Sep 4, 2005]

Last week was a high-traffic week thanks to the Google Talk Themes I created. I created a total of 6 themes in 3 days, as well as showing you all the short tutorial of how to create your own Google Talk Themes. Basically, articles I have posted are as follows :-

MondayWednesday
Created Google Talk Themes in various colours, including the favourite Blue, Black, Red, Yellow, Pink and Purple. Feel free to download any theme you like. :) On Wednesday, I posted the link to the trailer of Doom, The Movie. It is a movie based on the story line of the famous computer game DOOM. Besides, last Wednesday Opera was celebrating its 10 year anniversary and was giving out FREE download of the full Ad-Free version of Opera 8.02. I’m sorry if you missed out the opportunity.

Thursday
Some possible products might be produced by Google have been speculated on last Thursday, including GoogleNet, Gbrowser, Google Office and GoogleOS.

Friday
Following the great news from Opera 2 days ago, another stunning news was Yahoo was offering new domain registration for USD$1.99/year only !! I’m sorry again, if you missed it as it already ended on September 2nd, 2005. Besides, I did a compilation of all the Google Talk Themes and took a little effort to write down the tutorial as well. A guy created a Mac Mini Mod by combining a toy Millennium Falcon, Apple iSight and Apple Mac Mini.

Saturday
I shared a detailed and well written article comparing mobile processors, both Intel Pentium-M (Dothan) and AMD Turion64.

Sunday
I shared a Linux IQ Test provided by cNet, it’s not that hard, but I got only 7/10 correct. Then I posted an online search service, Tagomatic.com. It allows users to search similar entities of entertainment media, such as Musics, Bands, Movies, Books, and Web Sites using tags.




Weekly Highlights [Aug 22, 2005 – Aug 28, 2005]

Another week has passed. Sigh … Last week was a busy one, and yet another low productivity week in blogging. Anyway, if you come over to my blog and find nothing new, don’t forget there is a new service which provides you latest news from various sources. Ok, let’s take a look of what have I written last week.

Monday
I read about a stunning news last Monday that Intel Pentium D is actually using two Pentium 4 core on the same package !! Which means old technology is used on a “new” product. Then there was a security alert to developers of big companies, such as Google, MSN, that uses toolkit is called CPAINT, which is used to create applications using AJAX (an approach to writing web application).

Tuesday
I posted a review of the next version of Windows, Windows Vista, from CoolTechZone.com. It’s not a very thorough review but at least we have more insight about Windows Vista now.

Wednesday
Microsoft released its new MSN Messenger, MSN Messenger 7.5, to stay in competition after Yahoo launched their latest Instant Messenger (IM), Yahoo IM 7.0. In less than 24 hours after I talked about MSN Messenger 7.5, Google launched its own Instant Messenger as well, Google Talk Beta !!

Thursday
Last Thursday was a happy day as Penny made me a nice fan sign. However, she requested me to return her with a special fan sign. :p

Friday
I attended the Penang bloggers gathering on 21 Aug, 2005, but I only posted about it on 26 Aug, 2005. Anyway, it was my first bloggers gathering and I felt happy meeting they all that day. :) Then I posted a news saying Microsoft is planning to release an anti-phishing filter for Internet Explorer 6.0 (previously planned to be integrated in the forthcoming IE7) and MSN Toolbar.

Saturday
I posted a Google Quiz, which tests your knowledge on using the famous search engine, Google Search. Try it out and see do you really know some extra features of the search engine.

Sunday
I create a blue theme for the new Google Talk. So, if you are bored with its original grey colour interface, feel free to download it, and share it with your friends as well. :)
