Imation’s USB 2.0 Micro Hard Drive, which can store up to 2-gigabytes of data, has been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records for having the world’s smallest hard drive spinning head.

It’s USB 2.0 high-speed interface is designed to allow files to be shared and transferred easily across PCs, Mac and Linux platforms. In addition, Imation offers users security options to help keep valuable files protected. Imation Security Manager file synchronization and encryption software for Windows and Mac preventing unauthorized access by tightly locking all files with 128-bit encryption. The software is available for free optional download.

The 2GB Imation Micro Hard Drive will be available in mid-July in the U.S., Latin America and Asia Pacific at authorized Imation distributors. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) in the U.S. is USD$159. A 4GB Imation Micro Hard Drive will be available in the U.S., Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe in Q4 2005; U.S. MSRP is USD$189.
