32GB USB Flash Drive On Sale!

Wednesday 7 May 2008 @ 6:01 pm

This morning, I was browsing through some sales of computer peripherals at Amazon and was a little shock to see such huge capacity USB flash drive is on sale!

corsair 32gb flash drive

Corsair Flash Voyager is the latest product manufactured by Corsair and it’s the largest capacity USB 2.0 flash drive to date with a massive 32GB of storage. While Moore’s law is suggesting memory capacity would double its size approximately every 2 years, I think this 32GB flash drive is a bit beyond the projection, don’t you think so?

Anyway, obviously this USB flash drive is not a prototype but an end product selling on the shelves in many online computer stores right now, below are some sales I found :-

Corsair is well known of its high quality and performance computer main memory (RAM), therefore they are confident with Corsair Flash Voyager by offering a 10 years limited warranty. Even though the durable rubber casing doesn’t make it one stylish flash drive, I suppose the capacity, reliability and its warranty are enough win our hearts.

Anyway, with such a huge capacity, you can practically store the entire Windows Vista operating system, all application programs, and a couples of DVD into it! Moving huge files from one PC to another PC outside a network and harddisk backup would never been easier using it too.

7x Optical Zoom Webcam

Thursday 8 February 2007 @ 10:48 am

Have a webcam? What other purpose you use your webcam for other than having video chat or video conferencing with friends/family? I don’t know about you, but I do use my webcam as a surveillance camera. My webcam is a cheap one (costs about RM25/US$7) and it is able to zoom digitally for about 5x only. As you might have known, the picture quality is not good using digital zoom.

7x optical zoom webcam

This 7x optical zoom webcam is definitely a perfect webcam to act as a cheap solution for surveillance, while you can zoom more without compromising the picture quality. In fact, this webcam is just like normal CMOS camera of 1.3-millon pixels. However, it has an edge over other webcams as it has a special telephoto lens to get fixed onto it in order to leverage the optical zoom capability!

The quest in making laptops into thinner size with longer lasting battery life has gone one step further as LED backlighting, a new technique for LCD illumination, will be used in new Apple and HP laptops’ LCD screen. Furthermore, with LED backlight LCD screen produces better color saturation and distributes backlight more evenly than the ordinary LCD most laptops are currently using.

Apple and HP are among the few laptop manufacturers that will be releasing LED backlit laptops in Q2 of 2007, while Sony and NEC already have their LED backlit laptops available in the market though in a limited range of laptop models.

Anyway, as expected LED Backlit Laptop will have brightness ratings of over 1,680cd/m² as compared to most laptop nowadays are only having brightness rated for 200-400cd/m².
