After quite some time Google launched its Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Microsoft finally unveiled its web-based office application called Microsoft Office Live Workspace today. Basically, it a web-based feature of Microsoft Office that lets people access their Office documents online and share their the documents with others.
I would say Microsoft Office Live Workspace is almost identical to Google Docs & Spreadsheets but with a number of limitations. There is only 250 megabytes of storage allocated for each account, or space to keep over 1,000 Office documents. The system requirement for Microsoft Office Live Workspace is as the following :-
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or later on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista
- Firefox 2.0 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista
- Firefox 2.0 on Mac OS X 10.2.x and later
No information on how it will run in a Unix system though.
I’m sure many of us are thinking of upgrading our computer operating system to the latest Windows Vista. Apart from wondering will the current computer hardware be compatible to Windows Vista, probably we are facing the dilemma of choosing which version of Windows Vista.
Basically, there are 5 versions of Windows Vista to choose from, they are Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate.
This is the link to a comprehensive comparison chart of all 5 versions of Windows Vista. Hope it helps you to make your upgrading decision.
I bet all PC manufacturers are now bundling their computer with the latest Windows Vista operating system (OS) since the launch of the OS early this year. Most of the new PC are now built/designed for Windows Vista, but what about old PC that we are still using right now?
Many people, including myself, are curious to know whether is our PC Window Vista capable. I bought a Dell laptop end of 2006 and it is labeled Windows Vista capable. Hence, I have a chance to upgrade to Windows Vista for a minimal cost (some systems are entitled to free upgrade though). So, I headed over to Dell’s Vista Upgrade website to check for the cost of upgrading. This is what I got :-
The cost is reasonable, but what I was more curious is how efficient will my laptop become after upgrading to Windows Vista.
Beware if anyone of you downloaded a cracked version of the forthcoming Windows Vista from any online sources, including BitTorrent.
Quoted:
The program claims to be a “crack” designed to unlock pirated copies of Vista, which was made available to Microsoft’s volume licensing customers last week.
The cracked file named “Windows Vista All Versions Activation 21.11.06” actually contains a password-stealing trojan horse known as Trojan-PSW.Win32.LdPinch.aze.
Kaspersky is one of the antivirus applications manage to detect the trojan horse, but not Norton Antivirus and Eset’s NOD32, says the security researchers. So, be extra careful if you are using any of these 2 antivirus.

Well, I do not have the forthcoming Windows, Windows Vista (previously named Longhorn), to try out, but CoolTechZone.com is kind enough to do a review of the new version of Windows. Just in case you are curious about it, this review at least gives you the first impression on Windows Vista.
The following are the things the review covers : -
- Booting process - you know, right from the black colour screen before Windows is actually loaded.
- Graphics Device Interface - How Windows Vista create graphics on display.
- Virtual Folders - One of the hottest features we have been waiting to have a look.
- The Desktop - The first glimpse of the new Windows OS.
- Start Menu - The famous “Start” button that you are so familiar with.
- Windows Explorer - Not Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer is explorer that showing you your files directory tree and folder contents.
- Internet Explorer - The beta version of Internet Explorer 7 has been embedded into Windows Vista Beta 1.

I bet some of you have noticed Microsoft just released the latest beta version of Internet Explorer, Internet Explorer 7 beta 2, a few days ago.
You might be wondering how good/reliable/secure/user-friendly is this latest version of the most widely used web browser as compared to its closest rival, Firefox. Well, Networking Pipeline has written a very thorough comparison of the Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 and Firefox 1.5.0.2.
The following are the break down of all chapters of the review :-
- Facing Firefox - A brief introduction of the comparison between Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 1.5.0.2
