As we have known, the fact that Apple has discontinued partnering with IBM and will be teaming up with Intel for their coming products.
Tuesday, June 7, 2005, IBM reacted calmly by defending Apple’s decision to switch to Intel chips, noting its adoption by all the main games console makers - Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. IBM’s failure to deliver both 3GHz G5 processors and a low-power version for laptops is being seen as a major reason for Apple’s volte-face.
IBM claimed that ‘IBM is focused on the highest-value opportunities in each marketplace’. Besides, Freescale CEO Michel Mayer also mentioned in an email that the company’s Mac business accounts for less than three percent of total revenue. He added too, ‘It is increasingly clear that the center of technology innovation is moving away from the personal computer’.
