100 Million Videos Viewed On YouTube.com Everyday

If you still do not know what is YouTube by now, probably you do not live on the Internet. You sure know this free online video hosting service if you are a frequent online surfer. Well, YouTube just announced on Sunday, 16 July, 2006 that there are more than 100 million videos viewed on its site in every single day. Besides, close to 20 million unique users per month is using YouTube and I’m one of them.

YouTube has been the leader in such service since last year and is still holding the leading position with 29% of the U.S. multimedia entertainment market. Meanwhile, they are serving for around 60% of all videos watched online beating close rivals like Google Video and MetaCafe with huge market share.

Online video hosting seems to be prospering as in June 2006 there were only 2.5 billion videos watched on YouTube, but more than 65,000 videos are now uploaded daily to YouTube, up from around 50,000 in May. As the number of user is increasing tremendously on YouTube, one big concern to me is the cost for bandwidth usage per month. I’m sure that will be gigantically huge.
