SapiensBryan.com Finally Mine !!

Friday 15 April 2005 @ 12:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m so glad finally i got my own domain name, sapiensbryan.com.
I bought it just because I hope I can own something that really belongs to me (unless there is another blogger named “sapiensbryan” :D ).

Before I used www.sapiensbryan.com as my blog’s domain name, www.wisewit.com was the domain for my blog. I felt it’s better to use my original nick as the domain name for the sake of easy to remember, though “sapiensbryan” is a bit longer. :p

As you can notice, when you type www.wisewit.com into your web browser address bar and hit Enter, you will be directed to www.sapiensbryan.com. I will still remain this redirection for 1 month, just in case some readers do not know about this Site Update.

www.sapiensbryan.com is my one and only blog, you can safely forget about www.wisewit.com because this domain name will not be used after 1 month.

So, please bookmark www.sapiensbryan.com by pressing “CTRL + D” while you are browsing the main page.

Note:
From now onwards, remember only www.sapiensbryan.com. :)

Intel Gonna Ship Dual Core Too

Wednesday 13 April 2005 @ 1:54 pm

Just a few days after AMD announced the shipment of their Dual Core processor, Intel is up to the challenge by announcing they are going to ship their first Dual Core processor, Pentium Extreme Edition 840 processor, ahead of an official launch, which is expected to take place soon.

Pentium Dual Core

“The launch will be in the immediate future,” said Abhi Talwalkar, vice president and general manager of Intel’s Digital Enterprise Group, speaking with reporters at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Taipei. He said Intel’s dual-core announcement was “imminent.”

AMD is likely to be the first with the launch of its dual-core Opteron processors expected on April 21. However, Talwalkar declined to comment on when exactly Intel plans to officially launch the Pentium Extreme Edition 840.

Come, Take A Phishing IQ Test !

Wednesday 13 April 2005 @ 2:27 am

Have you heard about phishing? Not fishing, ok!

  • If your answer is NO, you might need to read this and this for more information about phishing.

Ok, here I give you some basic knowledge about phishing. Phishing is some sort of scam through email to cheat Internet user for their confidential information like credit card number, bank account number etc. We often receive emails asking us to update our bank account or re-verify our confidential information in some service we subscribed, such as eBay, amazon etc. Some of these emails are legit, some are not. Usually in those fraud phishing emails, you will find some links which might lead you to another similar page of the service you have subscribed. Once you key-in your confidential data in the fake website from the fraud email, identity theft might use it for unlawful activities, like credit card fraud.

  • If your answer is YES, then you might want to test yourself to see how much you know about phishing.

The following links are Phishing IQ Tests, provided by MailFrontier.

Test yourself about US phishing.

Test yourself about UK phishing.

By the way, I took the US test and manage to get 8 correct out of 10, 80% for US Test. I should have done it carefully and read the entire email for each question. I was in a rush and did that test in less than 5 minutes.

US Phishing Test

In real life, we should take it very seriously, instead of just glancing through suspicious emails because phishing scam has become more serious nowadays, we should be aware of it all the time.

Note: Feel free to drop me a message or two here, in case you find any difficulty understanding the explanation provided after the test. I’ll try to explain it to you. :)

World Jump Day

Monday 11 April 2005 @ 2:35 pm

Please note that, i put this article in Funny Link category. This is because i think it is funny instead of taking it seriously. :D

World Jump Day, July 20, 2006

According to the website, let’s jump at the same time in one particular scheduled date, so that the orbit of Earth is move further from the Sun. By doing so, it is believed that would likely to stop global warming, extend daytime hours and create more homogenous climate. I wonder, if all Earth citizens from different locations and regions jump at the same time, the impact will eventually go to the core of the Earth instead of to shift the orbit. So, how are we going to help shifting the orbit by just jumping? :-?

I wonder also, after shifting the orbit, will the Earth clash with the moon?

They need 600,000,000 jumpers, and so far 106,212,706 registered. If you are interested in participating, just register by sending them your email address through their website. By the way, i have not registered yet, maybe i’ll just jump at the same time unofficially in my room.

Dell Remains Open to AMD

Sunday 10 April 2005 @ 7:49 pm

So glad to hear that Dell remains open to AMD.

In what amounts to one of the PC industry’s longest-running sagas of on-again, off-again courtship, Dell Chief Executive Kevin Rollins once again revived speculation that Dell could end its long-standing refusal to use Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Inc. chips.

However, Mr. Rollin also mentioned Dell would only turn to AMD if customers demanded it start using AMD chips and not just Intel’s.

Anyway, hope we can see more new Dell PCs utilizing AMD processors soon.
