IBM Defends Against Apple-Intel Link

As we have known, the fact that Apple has discontinued partnering with IBM and will be teaming up with Intel for their coming products.

Tuesday, June 7, 2005, IBM reacted calmly by defending Apple’s decision to switch to Intel chips, noting its adoption by all the main games console makers – Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. IBM’s failure to deliver both 3GHz G5 processors and a low-power version for laptops is being seen as a major reason for Apple’s volte-face.

Programmers For Browsers Wanted

IE Blog just announced some job vacancies in Microsoft as Programming Writer for Internet Explorer (IE). This is their newest open position is for a Programming Writer position for work on the SDK documentation for IE7.

At the same time, Mozilla is also hiring Software Engineering for the famous Firefox browser as well. This might be the step to cover the lost of a few key developers in Mozilla who have already joined Google in the past 6 months. At first, Ben Goodger & Darin Fisher in January, 2005. Then we saw Brian Ryner joined Google in March, 2005.

Looks like, more and more web browser developers are needed for each browser company to sustain their competitiveness. So, anyone interested in joining one of them. :)

p/s: Quite surprisingly, I saw a Get Firefox! link in the IE Blog. LoL =))




Apple Will Launch iTunes In Japan

Apple Computer will launch a version of its iTunes music service in Japan in August, charging less than similar services already in Japan.

When it is launched, Apple will have the largest digital song library in the country, estimated at between 500,000 to 1 million songs. Several record companies have signed up to provide songs for the service, including Toshiba-EMI, Columbia Music Entertainment and Avex Group Holdings.

600 Hundreds Celebrities Phone No. Leaked

In case you didn’t know about this news, there were hundreds of Chinese celebrities including movie star Zhang Ziyi have reportedly been bombarded with phone calls after their mobile numbers were posted online on a China-based website.

The numbers of around 600 writers, actors, sports stars and singers appeared on a website on Saturday, June 4, 2005, and remained there for two days until the list was deleted, the Beijing Star Daily said.

Intel Targets 9-5 Notebook By 2008

Computer processor manufacturer Intel, in fact, is so bullish on the matter that it recently moved up a deadline for notebook makers by two years. It’s now asking them to produce by 2008 thin and light notebooks that can run for eight hours without the use of additional external batteries, said Mooly Eden, vice president of the Intel’s mobility group.

If everthing goes well, within three to four years, portable PCs will be expected to see battery life double from today’s four-hour stretch.
