AMD (Advanced Micro Devices Inc.) says it will try to speed up the process of its antitrust lawsuit against Intel Corp. and break what it claims is a chokehold on the corporate desktop market.
AMD officials said on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, that they would like to bring the case to trial in 18 months – the same amount of time it took the government to bring its case to trial against Microsoft Corp. in 1998. That would put the trial sometime in late 2006 if AMD is successful in its efforts.
Anyway, Intel officials strongly disagree with AMD’s complaints about the business practices of Intel and Intel’s customers. Intel believes in competing fairly and believes consumers are benefiting from this vigorous competition. Intel officials claimed AMD has chosen to complain to a court about Intel’s success with a legal case full of excuses and speculation. Anyhow, Intel will respond appropriately to AMD’s latest complaints and is committed to successfully resolving these issues in court.
