I just upgraded this blog to the latest WordPress (WP) 2.8, which was just released a couple hours ago. This latest version is named after the late Chet Baker, a famous trumpeter and vocalist in the 1950s.
There are not many changes in the layout and design in WP2.8 as compared to its predecessor WP2.7.1. However, WP 2.8 fixed over 790 bugs and improved themes, widgets, taxonomies, and its overall speed. This is the main reason I upgraded the blog immediately after it was released.
Below are the major improvements worth mentioning :-
- Browse the entire theme directory and install theme with one click
- CodePress editor – for people who likes to tweaks themes or plugins as it provides syntax highlighting
- Widgets interface redesigned – edit widget on the fly, drag & drop widget, duplicate widgets, etc.
- New Screen Options on every page in Dashboard – better customization by allowing you flexibility to arrange items showing on each page
Visit the link for the all the new features on WordPress 2.8. I’m so impressed with all the hard work the development team has put into this latest version.
For those who are using the older version, it’s time to upgrade your blog. Cheers! :D
This is the 3rd part of Nokia N97 Sneak Preview series, it’s about the main applications in the phone such as the A-GPS (with Nokia Maps), Web Browser, 5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss Camera and the Music Player.
5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss auto-focus Camera
The first thing I tried when I got the phone in my hands was the camera.
The auto-focus is amazing as it smartly detects your shooting object automatically and it’s fast! The white balance is good too. No obvious bluish/greenish/reddish effect which some camera phones may have. I don’t expect the flash of a camera phone to be as powerful as a Xenon, so N97’s doesn’t disappoint me as it does its job just fine.
As for Video Recording, one noticeable thing I need to mention is that the voice captured is quite clear even if the voice is coming from about a meter away.

Nokia N97 Sneak Preview – Part 3 (Applications)!
Here comes the part 2 of Nokia N97 sneak preview, it’s all about the software the phone uses.
Let’s have a look what we have on the main screen of the phone :-
You will be able to add up to 6 favourite widgets on the main screen and you can even arrange them according to your preference (see screen shot below). All widgets will load automatically if you have an active data plan or you are hocked up with a wireless (WiFi) network.
Some of the applications in N97 are specially developed with the collaborations between Nokia and 3rd parties such as Facebook, Bloomberg, Reuters, etc. How thoughtful that is!

It’s Gmail’s 5th birthday today!
I can’t believe I’ve been using Gmail for 5 years already. I still remember the time when Gmail first launched, it was opened via invitation only. Each email account can only invite another 50 users, then the limit soon raised to 100 and at the end this awesome free service was open for everyone to use.
I love Gmail and I can’t live without it, you wanna know why?
- Gmail is fast. Less page refresh is required.
- Gmail allows personalization through Gmail Labs.
- Gmail is smart. I love the way how it treats all emails with same subject title as conversations. I’ve already said goodbye to messy inbox since 5 years ago.
- Gmail’s storage is increasing every second. It simply means Gmail grows together with you.
- Gmail saves tons of my time. There are so many things I can do with it and I don’t even have to leave my browser, such as viewing all sorts of attachments, checking my schedule, chatting, etc.
I hope they keep improving Gmail in term of its features and security. Also, I hope Gmail will soon jump out from its beta version as I can’t believe it’s still in beta version after 5 years. Haha…
Keep up the good work, Gmail Team!
Happy birthday, Gmail!
It seems that the second Google Pagerank Update happened just right after April Fool day. Some of my websites including this one still remain the same Pagerank but there are some increment in others, which can be considered as good news.
How’s your website? Hope you have good news too.
You may use this Pagerank Checker to check the latest Pagerank.
You can even show off your Pagerank on your website using the Pagerank button created by the website.
Cheers!
First of all, Happy 2009!
It’s just the second week of 2009, Google is already giving us surprises.
Things that I’ve noticed so far are Google Pagerank update, change of their favicon (as you can see below) and the release of pre-beta version of Google Chrome 2.0.
Google Latest Favicon In 2009
Google Chrome 2.0
The speed of Google Chrome development is awesome, this is only the fourth month since it’s first release of Chrome 1.0. The version I just upgraded mine is pre-beta (Alpha release) Chrome 2.0, which is not available for public download.
A peak at pre-beta Google Chrome 2.0
This version is a developer preview version where latest features will be included for testing purposes. It could be very unstable at times and might require manual configuration too, but I just can’t stop myself from getting a peak at the features in its next release. On top of my own curiosity, I also feel like sharing this latest news with my readers as well.
