The antimicrobial coating incorporates the protective AgION antimicrobial technology and will prevent growth of microbes such as molds and bacteria on the casing of the cell phone.

Video Conferencing Plugin For Google Talk

Tuesday 8 November 2005 @ 3:45 pm

Festoon
Google Talk has yet to have video conferencing like the other two competitors’ Instant Messengers (IM), MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger. Therefore, Santa Cruz Network has developed a plugin for Google Talk enabling Google Talk users to conduct video voice calls. They named the plugin Festoon.

Santa Cruz Network just launched the plugin for Google Talk few days ago followed by its success in launching the most popular video plug-in for Skype with more than 2.75 million downloads so far. For you information, Festoon works fine with both Google Talk and Skype now.

Festoon

Festoon allows Google Talk users to talk to and see each other just like any other video conferencing feature in other IM, share applications, and engage in video experiences from 2 to 200 face-to-face communication. It offers high-quality group voice utilizing the industry leading GIPS audio codec used also by Google Talk, Skype, and AIM Triton.

The Next MSN Messenger – Windows Live Messenger

Thursday 3 November 2005 @ 2:17 pm

Microsoft is preparing to launch a newer version of MSN Messenger very soon. The next generation MSN Messenger tentatively is named Windows Live Messenger and it is still in beta testing stage. Like the next version of Hotmail – Kahuna, Windows Live Messenger is also accepting beta users to test on the new service but unfortunately I do not have the invitation for this one.

Anyway, I’ve got you all some screen shots of Windows Live Messenger.

Windows Live Messenger

While remaining most of the features we already familiar with, such as text and voice messaging, emoticons, and video conferencing, Windows Live Messenger integrated VoIP and File Sharing of any kind of documents.

Intel’s 65nm Processors Can Go Beyond 4GHz

Wednesday 2 November 2005 @ 1:49 pm

IntelThe highest speed of Intel’s Pentium D processors currently in the market still remain below 4GHz. In very near future, we will see dual-core Intel Pentium D processors using 65nm process technology available as Intel is now ready to ship them.

Well, some hardware reviewers have already received some of the latest chips to measure their power consumption and investigate its overclock-ability, AnandTech is one of them. According to them :-

Quoted:
“The new cores do definitely overclock much better than their predecessors, and they will allow any serious overclocker to reach speeds greater than 4.0GHz effortlessly. Most exciting to us was the 4.25GHz overclock that we saw on Presler, as a 4.25GHz Pentium D will truly be a formidable opponent to AMD’s Athlon 64 X2. Cedar Mill offered reasonable overclocking headroom as well, but we would have liked to see a 5.0GHz overclock on standard air cooling, given that reaching 4.0GHz is possible today on Prescott.”

However, despite the impressive reduction in power consumption, Pentium D still does not give Intel the advantage to outperform AMD.

Play Music Right From Del.icio.us Search

Saturday 29 October 2005 @ 6:27 pm

I just did a search in Del.icio.us and I found that they have integrated its own built-in music player into the Search function. This search function previously only available to registered users only, now it is opened to the public. This new feature of Del.icio.us was confirmed in their blog few days ago.

Delicious
Don’t ask me why is there a link about “Gearge”. LoL …

Del.icio.us’s built-in music player is similar to Yahoo! Podcasts, which allows you to search for any podcast on the Internet and listen to it via the built-in music player straight away from the search results. The small music player from Del.icio.us will play the mp3 file right from the search result too.

The Next Version Of Hotmail – Kahuna

Friday 28 October 2005 @ 12:30 am

I just got an invitation from Microsoft last Friday to test the forthcoming Hotmail service, Kahuna. I am definitely not the first to do a review for Kahuna but I hope this entry shares the experience of using it from a diffrent point of view. Well, there are quite a number of good reviews written, such as this article from PC World, this article from PCMag or even this comprehensive list of features from MSN.

Kahuna is the next version of Hotmail and it will have 2GB capacity. It utilizes the latest web technologies such as AJAX, which GMail is also using. Since Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express is still having the largest user base for Windows-based email client applicaiton, Kahuna tries to bring the same user experience into the web application.

On the Today page, which happened to be the welcome page, we will see some messages from Microsoft regarding this beta version of next Hotmail.
