Google Pages – Create Webpage Online

Friday 24 February 2006 @ 8:56 pm

Google Page Creator
As the title suggests, this is yet another Google related post. I think Netizen like me just can’t stay on the Internet without Google.

Well, Google has just launched another (yup, again!) free online service called Google Page. Google Page allows you to easily create webpages in just minutes. I believe it will be very helpful to non-techie website owner because it requires no technical knowledge at all.

Too bad I didn’t register myself to Google Page last night when I knew about it, now Google will take your email address and notify you when the service is open again. Anyway, the following are some features of Google Page :-

  • Edit webpages and see the result instantly (what you you see is what you’ll get)
  • Edit from within your web browser (no other software is required)
  • You end product will go live on own site provided by Google (at http://yourgmailusername.googlepages.com)

Doesn’t this cool service look interesting? Certainly it is!

Save GTalk Chat History

Tuesday 7 February 2006 @ 11:40 pm

Google
Both MSN and Yahoo Messenger have its archive features so that we are able to save all chatting sessions for future reference or something. Initially Google’s GTalk didn’t have such archiving feature when it first launched, but the feature was just added into the instant messenger recently.

Surprisingly, not even Official Google Blog or GTalk Blog mentioned about this newly added feature. This only official article mentioned about new archiving feature can be found in GMail FAQ page.

GTalk Archive Setting

To use this archiving feature, you will need to enable it from GMail settings as shown in the figure above. If you feel keeping track of all your chat sessions in Google server, you can always turn the feature off at any later time.

Google Music Search

Monday 16 January 2006 @ 11:59 pm

To avoid repeating what other tech blogs have blogged, I have taken a glance on PPS and made sure no one blogged about this in the past 6 hours (at least in PPS). I know it’s a bit boring when everyone is repeating the same tech news.

Mumbling aside, Google has just quietly launched its free Music Search service. This is another new search function after the introduction of Google Video Search which is now turning into a Video Store that enables users to buy or rent videos.

Google Music Search

Unlike Baidu (China-based search engine, which is very famous of its music search) , Google Music Store is not providing any music download. I have done a search of one of my idols, Carlos Santana, the search result was broken down into three parts :-

  • Artists – Information about the artist itself.
  • Albums – Albums that the artist released.
  • Songs – Songs by the artist.

I See Google Everywhere !!

Monday 9 January 2006 @ 12:18 pm

Google
All sorts of news about Google Pack started to circulate in all major news centers in the past few days. Basically it’s a package consists of freeware and paid software range from unique software developed by Google like Google Earth, to common software such as AntiVirus, Spyware Remover and Web Browser. Google Pack comes in handy and will probably be the first set of software you would like to install after a fresh reformat of Windows OS. Anyway, the only one thing I think Google Pack is lacking is a freeware Firewall.

After getting to know about Google Pack, another news from Google surprised the world by announcing the introduction of Google Video Store that will enable users to buy or rent video content provided by independent producers and film makers. In fact, Google Video service has been accepting uploads of video clips since April 2005. Now it has been expended to accept independent content producers and enable users to download it for a fee. For the time being, contents from CBS (e.g. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Survivor and The Amazing Race) and the National Basketball Association (NBA), plus music videos from Sony BMG will be offered.

Motorola knows the power of Google is getting bigger in any industry they involved, hence announced a partnership with Google on Jan 5th, 2006, which will put a dedicated Google button on selected Motorola mobile handsets in order to enable users to search via Google at any time. Motorola has come out the world first iTunes enabled mobile phone last year, now the first “G-button” Motorola handsets are expected to be released early in 2006.

I’m waiting for Victoria Secret to come out a thong with Google button on it and call it G-String. Mean while, I see Google everywhere. Can anyone tell me is Google going to take over the web? :)

Somehow, I think this is not an official Google Maps advertisement but I am not too sure. Anyway, check it out and tell me do you think this is for real? :D

Yahoo in 1996 & Google in 1998

Sunday 13 November 2005 @ 1:42 pm

Suanie posted an entry about some sweet memories in the 90s. It reminded me that I was still a teenager that time who only used PC for games and entertainment.

For some of you who were web surfers back in 1990s, might still remember how the old Yahoo! and Google looked like. Just to bring back the old memory of these 2 search engine giant, here I present you Yahoo! in 1996 and Google in 1998. For those who have not seen the old version of Yahoo! and Google, enjoy too. :)

Well, back in 1996, Yahoo! was still a web directory itself comprised of around 370,000 sites. That time, Yahoo! was more or less a place served as Yellow pages and to search for latest news. For your information, this is the 2-year-old Yahoo! as Yahoo! was created in April 1994.
