Cheap Domain Strikes AGAIN !! Now USD$2.99/year !!

Tuesday 27 September 2005 @ 3:21 pm

Yahoo
In less than a month Yahoo first introduced the insane USD$1.99/year domain name registration, today I saw a similar crazy deal from Yahoo again !!

Listen up guys, Yahoo is now offering USD$2.99/year for any new domain name registration !! However, one yahoo member can only purchase maximum one domain name. Unless you have more than one yahoo account. :D

This offer is valid until September 28, 2005 at 11:59PM PST, which is September 29, 2005 at 02:59AM 02:59PM local time. Perhaps I calculated it correctly.

By the way, GoDaddy’s USD$1.99/year offer is still valid until September 30, 2005. Do check it out too.

Don’t worry, the price will only become cheaper and cheaper. As long as you do not need another domain name at the moment, you lose absolutely nothing. :)

reallybites informed me about yahoo’s USD1.99/year domain and i had bought 2 domains – one for 1 year and one for 2 years.

but me got 2 problems – no. 1 problem – no web host. am at the moment using jeremy’s free web host (which is for 6 months only). no. 2 problem – even with the free web host from jeremy now configure for my domain, i dunno where/how to begin! that’s right, an techie idiot like me have no idea at all how to start a website.

    so my Qs are:
    1. anyone wanna help me how to start a web-site? or even to start using wordpress with my domain/web-host?
    2. anyone knows of a cheap web host?

then another problem is that in my haste to buy up yahoo’s 1.99 domain, i had choose the wrong domain names… and we can’t change domain name right? so it looks like then i have to buy another domain from godaddy.

I thought you problem #2 automatically solves your problem #1.

    As for your questions :-
    1. I thought Edrei may help?
    2. I would suggest you stick with the free hosting first, then only shift after the 6 months free period.

If you have bought the wrong domain, you can’t change it anymore, either you use it or leave it to expire after the period you have bought.

Try to get the domain that you want from Yahoo, you still have time before the offer ends.

Lucia, if you’re interested, take a look at the USD2 per year hosting plan at my blog.

To others, there are quite a number of people who had bad experience with Yahoo. Take a look at start.com.my and also pandaboy.blogsome.com.

    Good luck.

bryan, no lah how can my problem no. 1 solve problem no. 2. what i meant is i do not have a web-host. the present one i have is a free one which will expire in 6 months time. but in a way i know what you mean by problem 2 solve problem 1.

as to my Qs. 1 – well yes i heard edrei had been helping a lot of people and once i mentioned casually in his blog about me asking his help too but the thing is i don’t not know him well and further he is not in penang. and i think that time the help we were refering to was on using wordpress. now i want help in just starting a website. haven’t really decide on using wordpress yet.

well ok since edrei has so kindly voice out his intention of helping, i will try to ask him and see.

andrew, only US$2 per year for web-hosting? wow! that cheap eh. ok maybe i’ll take up your offer for the other yahoo domain i have.

and i need to buy anohter one (this time go for godaddy) too.

Please note that GoDaddy’s $1.99 offer only comes along with a purchase of at least one non-domain service, like web hosting or SSL service from them.

So, since you want to get a domain name from GoDaddy, why not get a hosting account ($3.95/month) from them as well?

But the thing is, for GoDaddy’s hosting, $3.95/month is quite expensive ($47.40 per year).

for information, with these new domains, i do not intend to set up a blog… or rather replace my blogger blog as i’m very satisfied with blogger. i wanted to start some other 2 websites, and well maybe a new blog.

Yup, you have to buy a non-domain service to enjoy the $1.99 price.

As I known, Andrew is offering domain also. You gotta ask him for detail.

That domain name is your until after the expiry date, so, make use of it as you like. :)

Also, I’ve written a tips on how to get a domain name as cheap as $6.19 from GoDaddy, making use of the $1.99 offer. Read more in my blog.

Apparently, I have calculated wrongly about the due time of this great offer. Anyway, it should be 02:59PM today, which I have just corrected in the post.

Well, you still have 1.5 hours to make your move before it’s too late. :)
