I just came across this new service from Iomega, which recently announced on last Thursday, June 2, 2005.
iStorage provides online storage services for both consumer and prfoessional accounts.
iStorage Consumer account is available in capacities of 250MB (USD$44.96/year), 1GB (USD$134.96/year), and 5GB (USD$374.96/year).
iStorage Professional accounts are available from 1GB (USD$186.75/year) to 15GB (USD$1,199.25/year) and up.
Both account types include a redundantly backup client and 128-bit encryption data transfers (SSL or Triple-DES). They claimed that Data loss is virtually impossible with two physically redundant servers located on the east and west coasts.
If you signup in the month of June for annual subscription, you are entitled for 25% discount. :)
Anyway, after checking out their services, what came into my mind is Google Gmail is already providing over 2Gig space for free, but conversely Iomega is putting on high price tag on their online storage service. Wouldn’t it be a risky business to do? HMmMm…. let’s see how it goes in the coming months. :)
