Two weeks ago I was in Helsinki, Finland, as one of the finalists for Asian Angry Birds Challenge organized by Finnish Airlines Finnair and Rovio’s Angry Birds. Asian Angry Birds Challenge is a campaign to promote Finnair’s new route to Singapore and in conjunction with Angry Birds’s business strategy to focus in Asian markets. Anyway, I’ll leave the details and what was happening during the contest in the upcoming post because this post is all about Angry Birds! :D
A day before the Asian Angry Birds Challenge contest, we were invited to have an exclusive tour to Angry Birds Headquarters located in Espoo during the 2-day stay in Helsinki.

In this Angry Birds Headquarters tour, I got to meet some developers behind the famous Angry Birds game, hear the latest Angry Birds news and get the some insider information of Angry Birds future plans.

Jaakko Iisalo, the father of Angry Birds game, and the huge Mr. Angry Birds.
After meeting and chatting with the founder of Angry Birds game, Jaakko Iisalo, we were brought to a small cinema in the headquarters where we watched a slideshow and videos of how the Angry Birds game evolved since day one.

Right now Jaakko Iisalo has a team of about 15 developers who are designing and coding for game. Angry Birds was originally developed for mobile phone systems but has now reached multiple other platforms such as netbook, Google Chrome browser, Playstation, etc.
As shared during a chat with the Senior Vice President of Angry Birds, Henri Holm, Angry Birds is not merely a game anymore, it is more of a brand that has fans from all over the world in different age groups. Therefore, the engagement with the fans via different channels is important for its growth.

Engagement with Angry Birds fans via different channels is important.
The people at Angry Birds team are so creative they came up with some excellent ideas to encourage the fans to get involved in playing the game. So far we’ve seen the game coming to different gaming platforms, crowd-controlled (by voice) Angry Birds version at the Singapore F1, setting a Guinness World Record together with Nokia, Angry Birds plush toys, etc. There are more to come in near future like Angry Birds Halloween costumes, Angry Birds Cookbook and Angry Birds Movie. Well, we might need to wait a little longer for the movie though.

The table of content of Angry Birds Cookbook.
The Angry Birds Cookbook will be sold in both physical and digital copy. Currently it is only available in English but will come in more languages in the future. I threw a question asking the Angry Birds team are we going to get a cookbook for pork recipe since the pigs stolen the eggs and they said this idea will definitely be considered. Haha!
I got to see some best selling Angry Birds merchandises and samples that are not yet on sale such as Angry Birds gummies candy and Angry Birds “Knock On Woods” game.
