This is the 3rd part of Nokia N97 Sneak Preview series, it’s about the main applications in the phone such as the A-GPS (with Nokia Maps), Web Browser, 5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss Camera and the Music Player.
5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss auto-focus Camera
The first thing I tried when I got the phone in my hands was the camera.
The auto-focus is amazing as it smartly detects your shooting object automatically and it’s fast! The white balance is good too. No obvious bluish/greenish/reddish effect which some camera phones may have. I don’t expect the flash of a camera phone to be as powerful as a Xenon, so N97’s doesn’t disappoint me as it does its job just fine.
As for Video Recording, one noticeable thing I need to mention is that the voice captured is quite clear even if the voice is coming from about a meter away.
A-GPS With Nokia Maps
The next application that piqued my curiosity was the Maps application.
The speed loading up the map is amazingly fast. As usual, it first detects your current location.
Then, you’ll see more details as you zoom down the map.
Landmarks like LTR station, toll, etc, will be shown as well.
Full Unrestricted Web Browser
The web browser in N97 is capable to render full website just like the browsers we use in any desktop or laptop. In other words, you can practically access to any website and not restricted to viewing websites that’s specially designed for mobile browser.

Viewing full website with flash animation
I tested the browser by loading some websites with flash animation and it works like a charm. As you can see from the above picture, the flash ads banner is showing up in the web browser without any problem.
Besides viewing the full version website, I tested it by accessing this site in mobile mode too.
Music Player
Well, the Music Player was the last application I tried out and it didn’t disappoint as well.

Playing music
Song playlist
In the next post, which will be the last part of this sneak preview, I will share some videos I took. You’ll get to listen to the sound quality of the music player, video playback and web browsing.
