Maxis10: Samsung Galaxy S TV-Out Feature

Thursday 8 July 2010 @ 11:02 am

I’ve uploaded a short video in Youtube showing you how to use the TV-Out feature of Samsung Galaxy S. By using TV-Out, the image you see on the phone will be displayed on the TV. This makes the TV-Out feature comes in handy in several occasions, such as :-

  • Sharing with your friends and family the pictures and videos you’ve captured.
  • Playing songs through the TV with better sound quality.
  • Slide-show presentation
  • Playing movies on the hotel TV when you are traveling
  • Playing games on a larger display if you think the 4″ AMOLED screen is too small. :)
  • Many more…

To enable TV-Out, go to Applications > Settings > Sound and display > TV out. By the way, the TV system in Malaysia is PAL.

When TV-Out is enabled, the sound will come out from the TV speaker making watching movie using Samsung Galaxy S a different experience.

Hope you like this video.

Can you show us picture of the TV out cable? I wanna buy. Where to buy? Got more info?

I’m at the office can’t really view the video liberally, forgive me if you already mentioned the details in your video.

Sure, man. This is the cable : http://yfrog.com/micifej
I think should be able to get it from local electrical shop.

    Mine doesn’t work at all.
Got sound but the only image I get is text saying “TV-out not supported while application running. Phone display only”

I’ve search everywhere. I even called Samsung’s customer service. They had no clue what I was talking about.

    Steps I did:
    – Go to settings.
    – Enable the TV-out
    – Plug in the cable
    – Sound works, image no, got the text above. That’s it.

I have Samsung Galaxy S Captivate, with Android 2.1

You gotta get a TV-Out cable that is for mobile phone. Normal TV-Out cable will only give you sound and no display like how you describe.

I was using the cable from my Nokia N900 box. I believe you can get this cable from any Nokia sale center. :)

    Good luck!

This doesn’t make much sense to me… The text I’m seeing comes from my phone, so obviously, the cable work… no ?

Another thing… what is different in your cable that makes the image show up ? (And please, don’t tell me it’s the color lol)

And finally, the message I get on my TV specifies something about an application running… Wouldn’t it make more sense if it told me “You have the wrong cable”…?

    Your take please.

A few of my friends who are using Galaxy S face the same TV-Out problem. I personally tested a few TV-Out cables at different electrical shops and can conclude that the normal TV-Out cable is not compatible with the TV-Out feature of Galaxy S. We need a TV-Out cable that is for mobile phone. My Nokia N900 has the TV-Out cable in the box but too bad Galaxy S doesn’t have it.

It could be the difference in wiring. Of course I don’t mean the color is different. LoL
