Sony Ericsson just announced to integrate Google free blogging service – Blogger (or blogspot) into its handsets. Meanwhile, Google web search will be added in as well.
The world first few mobile phones to have the pre-loaded blogging application with Google icon are K610 UMTS phone, K800 and K790. The pre-loaded application on the phones will allow Blogger users to update their blogs, including posting photos from their Sony Ericsson phones. The collaboration between Sony Ericsson and Google makes Google web search as the standard search engine for all Sony Ericsson phones. The search is highly customized and allowing searches from within any page being browsed on the phone.

Quoted:
“We are seeing exponential growth in blogging, and consumers are turning more and more often to the Internet as a means of sharing information or images in personal blogs,” said a statement issued by Jan Wareby, a vice president at Sony Ericsson. “By working with Google, we’re able to offer a quick and easy way for people to blog as they discover how convenient it is as a way to share words and pictures with friends, family and beyond.”
To me, this collaboration seems a very good strategy for both companies.
Quoted:
“By providing users with direct access to features like mobile search and blogging, we’re able to create a more personalized, user-friendly experience,†said Nikesh Arora, vice president, European Operations, Google Inc. “Today’s tech-savvy consumers are becoming increasingly more mobile and demand access to information on-the-go, whether it’s the latest news headlines or directions to a favourite restaurant.â€
For Google, its blogging service – Blogger has been facing constant threat from the blooming MySpace service, so this is the chance to consolidate its leading position as the largest free blogging service provider. Google has been always wanting to expand its web search service to mobile phone, so far they have come out with Google Mobile and Google SMS. Somehow, its close rival Yahoo also has a similar text messaging service called Yahoo! Mobile. So, to outcompete the rival, I’m sure Google is glad to have such collaboration with Sony Ericsson.
Since Nokia has its own mobile search application, Sony Ericsson would love to have one similar too. What’s a better move to partner with the leader of web search engine, Google? It’s still an early stage to justify either Nokia or Sony Ericsson has taken the smarter strategy, but to see Google search functionality in mobile phone is sure something fascinating. :)
Below are some of the pictures of Sony Ericsson mobile phones that integrated with the new Blogger application.
