Although Sprint is not one of the Telcos over here, still news about the launch of new products are always good to share.

Sprint Smart Phone

Anyway, Sprint has just announced the launch of its first Pocket PC phone, PCS Vision Smart Device PPC-6700. It is in fact the first PDA phone in the US to offer the latest Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 as the operating system. One thing attracted me was the keyboard which slides out from under the screen, when you slide open the keyboard, the screen rotates into landscape mode. This would be very useful to view documents like Excel and web pages.

The main features PCS Vision Smart Device PPC-6700 has are as follows :-

  • Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition
  • 1.3 Megapixel Embedded Camera
  • Built-In WiFi 802.11b & Bluetooth 1.2
  • Built-In Speakerphone
  • External Mini SD Expansion Card Slot
  • Integrated QWERTY Keyboard
  • Dimensions of 4.25″ x 2.3″ x 1.0″& weighted 6.07 oz
  • Up to 3.7 hours battery life

Well, the retail price of this phone is not cheap, at USD$629.99, but with the instant rebate of USD$150.00, you will enjoy USD$479.99.

One thing I am bit particular with this phone is the battery life, which is only 3.7 hours. I think it will be quite frustrating if the battery life is too short even though with lots of features.
