Intel Producing 32nm Processors Next Year!

Wednesday 10 December 2008 @ 2:44 pm

Intel So you heard them! Intel has completed the development phase of its next-generation 32 nanometers (nm) processors. They are now planning to roll out an entirely new 32nm processor in the fourth quarter of 2009! No sign of slowing down in processor development despite cutting its next year revenue forecast by 1 billion.

In fact, it’s always the plan in Intel to introduce an entirely new processor micro-architecture with a cutting edge manufacturing process about every 12 months. They proudly claimed such achievement to be an effort unmatched in the industry, this I totally agree with no doubt at all.

Besides, producing 32nm chips next year would mark the fourth consecutive year Intel has met its goal.

You may ask what’s so fascinating about 32nm?

Well, it simply means by using such technology Intel is able to use more energy-efficient, denser and higher performing transistors on a processor. Hence, giving you more power with less energy consumption.

Hopefully we’ll also see price dropping for older processors, which will be a bargain for the consumers.

On a side note, AMD just released their first 45nm Opteron server processor last month, now Intel is talking about manufacturing 32nm processors next year. Looks like AMD still have a long way to catch its main competitor’s tail, huh?

Intel Launched Fastest Desktop Processor, Core i7

Tuesday 18 November 2008 @ 12:00 pm

Intel just did a counter attack at the right time! After knewing AMD is catching up with the launching of its first 45nm Opteron processor, Intel today announced its latest desktop processor, Core i7!

Intel Core i7

This new desktop processor from Intel, the first member of a new family of Nehalem processor designs, is claimed to be the fastest desktop processor by scoring a world record of 117 for the SPECint_base_rate2006 benchmark test. This is by far the most sophisticated Intel desktop processor ever built with new technologies that boost performance.

Intel P4 Processor Blown Up

Thursday 12 January 2006 @ 11:53 pm

While enjoy watching some cool Ronaldinho tricks at Google Video, another video clip titled Exploding Overclocking Extreme Intel P4 Vaporizing caught my eyes.

P4 Blown Up

This 1 min 43 sec long Belgium video (it was uploaded from a Belgium website) demonstrating how a Intel Pentium 4 processor get blown up after removing the heatsink. The consequence of taking away the heatsink is strange in this case because in most case the processor will only be overheated.

I would say blown up is an exceptional case even if overheating, enjoy the video! :)

ASUS Launches Lamborghini Laptop Series

Saturday 7 January 2006 @ 11:12 pm

After a seeing the announcement of a partnership between Intel and Lamborghini in combining computer technology into on a number of projects automobile few months ago. Asus, one of the large computer components maker and the Italian deluxe sports car maker, Lamborghini, have announced a comprehensive partnership which enables Asus to produce Lamborghini Laptop Series that uses Lamborghini designs.

Asus-Lamborghini

Without a doubt, this partnership is a marketing strategy to respond to the popular Acer’s Ferrari Laptop Series. None of the specification of the laptop series was disclosed, but noticing the Intel-Lamborghini partnership has ben taken place last year, the next generation Intel Centrino Duo technology is highly possible to be integrated.

Lamborghini Laptop Series will be shipped in April, 2006 and it will be mass produced unlike the Lamborghini automobile, which has limited unit of stocks. According to Asus, the Lamborghini Notebook Series is available in both yellow and black.

Latest Intel Pentium Extreme Edition 955 CPU

Friday 30 December 2005 @ 4:31 pm

Pentium EE
It’s been 3 weeks I last touched this blog, sorry everyone. I’m back now after a few busy and hectic weeks, though I’m suppose to enjoy my holidays.

Anyway, let’s take a look of the latest Intel processors, Pentium Extreme Edition 955. The speed for this Dual Core CPU is clocked at 3.46GHz, which is currently the highest speed for desktop computer. It is utilizing a faster FSB (Front Side Bus) too, at 1066MHz.

As I mentioned is an earlier post, saying Intel Processors are able to go beyond 4GHz by utilizing the latest 65nm process technology, this processor is manufactured using 65nm technology instead of 90nm that most of the new desktop processors are using. The lower the process technology means lower processor’s power requirements and more processors can be produced in a silicon wafer, hence, lower the manufacturing cost.

Using 65nm process technology, 955 is operating at 1.20 – 1.33V operating voltage range while drawing a power of approximately 130 watts.

As compared to the last CPU Intel released, Pentium Extreme Edition 840 that runs on 3.2 GHz, Pentium Extreme Edition 955 doubles the amount of Level 2 (L2) cache from 2MB to 4MB (2MB for each core) !
