Pumpkin PC Modding

Monday 31 October 2005 @ 3:03 am

I have shown you some interesting PC moddings, such as Mac Mini modification using a toy Millennium Falcon, and the Think Out Of The Box PC modding. Today is Halloween, so I think I should share something related to it, here comes PC modding using a pumpkin !!

Pumpkin PC

First they need to hollow out the pumpkin then dry it over night. Then they slide in the motherboard and all components into the pumpkin. To my surprise, the PC is using a Pentium M and a Dell Latitude motherboard. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter as long as the end result is a runnable PC.

Play Music Right From Del.icio.us Search

Saturday 29 October 2005 @ 6:27 pm

I just did a search in Del.icio.us and I found that they have integrated its own built-in music player into the Search function. This search function previously only available to registered users only, now it is opened to the public. This new feature of Del.icio.us was confirmed in their blog few days ago.

Delicious
Don’t ask me why is there a link about “Gearge”. LoL …

Del.icio.us’s built-in music player is similar to Yahoo! Podcasts, which allows you to search for any podcast on the Internet and listen to it via the built-in music player straight away from the search results. The small music player from Del.icio.us will play the mp3 file right from the search result too.

The Next Version Of Hotmail – Kahuna

Friday 28 October 2005 @ 12:30 am

I just got an invitation from Microsoft last Friday to test the forthcoming Hotmail service, Kahuna. I am definitely not the first to do a review for Kahuna but I hope this entry shares the experience of using it from a diffrent point of view. Well, there are quite a number of good reviews written, such as this article from PC World, this article from PCMag or even this comprehensive list of features from MSN.

Kahuna is the next version of Hotmail and it will have 2GB capacity. It utilizes the latest web technologies such as AJAX, which GMail is also using. Since Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express is still having the largest user base for Windows-based email client applicaiton, Kahuna tries to bring the same user experience into the web application.

On the Today page, which happened to be the welcome page, we will see some messages from Microsoft regarding this beta version of next Hotmail. To give us the user experience of Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, we will see the user interface of Kahuna is very similar to them with three columns design:-

Build-To-Order Laptop For Malaysian

Monday 24 October 2005 @ 9:49 pm

Hey guys, my apologies for not conveying interesting news to you all for more than 24 hours. I was quite busy in the last few day, finally it’s over now.

Well, here is a an interesting one for local readers. We, Malaysian, can now build our own laptop with components that we select based on particular specifications we need, not to mention based on our budget too. I know we can customize any laptop model from major laptop manufacturer or retailer, but the options available are often not comprehensive enough to suit all kinds of laptop users. So, here comes the idea of launching the Build-to-Order Notebook Campaign by Genuine C&C (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

This campaign is a collaboration effort with some IT firms, namely:-

  • Intel Electronics (Malaysia) – main sponsor
  • Microsoft (Malaysia) – supreme partner
  • A-DATA Technology – co-partner
  • Seagate Singapore International Headquarters – co-partner

Get Disposable Email Address On The Fly

Saturday 22 October 2005 @ 10:12 pm

I am not sure is it only me, I have more than 4 email addresses, each of them serving different purposes. Some I use for service subscriptions, some I use for daily use.

Some of you might already created some new Yahoo! email accounts in order to get the insanely cheap domain name at only USD$2.99/year. I hope this is not against the TOS. Hehe… ;))

Anyway, here I introduce you a disposable free email service, named DodgeIt. This service allows you to create email account on the fly. It is just like having an instant noddle; open, eat, throw! The only thing is it doesn’t pollute the environment. :)

DodgeIt is very useful when you need to create a new account just for some service subscriptions, such as forum registration, etc etc. I know you can also do so using Yahoo! or Hotmail but you will need to go through the troublesome registration procedures, isn’t it? There is no setup process in DodgeIt. What you need to do is to create an email address, give it to others, then check the email through DodgeIt homepage. That’s it.
