I bet all PC manufacturers are now bundling their computer with the latest Windows Vista operating system (OS) since the launch of the OS early this year. Most of the new PC are now built/designed for Windows Vista, but what about old PC that we are still using right now?
Many people, including myself, are curious to know whether is our PC Window Vista capable. I bought a Dell laptop end of 2006 and it is labeled Windows Vista capable. Hence, I have a chance to upgrade to Windows Vista for a minimal cost (some systems are entitled to free upgrade though). So, I headed over to Dell’s Vista Upgrade website to check for the cost of upgrading. This is what I got :-
The cost is reasonable, but what I was more curious is how efficient will my laptop become after upgrading to Windows Vista.
So, I searched around the Internet to see if there is any free tool to check the compatibility of our computer to Windows Vista. I found this cool and useful tool powered by System Requirement Lab.
This is the result I got for my laptop :-
Following by detailed hardware compatibility information :-
Too bad my laptop fails the test, it even doesn’t meet one of the minimum requirements of Windows Vista. Fortunately, I run this test before I went to upgrade the operating system straight away.
Anyway, I bet the tool I recommended will help you in making decision of whether to upgrade your current operating system.
In fact, System Requirement Lab does not only provide Windows Vista compatibility test, the website has a long list of computer games for you to check the compatibility of your PC to the games.
Enjoy!
