Monday 18 April 2005 @ 1:28 pm

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) leaded the desktop processors to 64-bit technology last year and now they are going to lead the laptop processors industry to 64-bit with their new Turion64 mobile processor.

AMD Turion64 Mobile

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) will take a headstart and a chance for the lead in the 64-bit mobile CPU market with its forthcoming Turion 64, as Intel will not launch its 64-bit mobile CPU until the second quarter of 2006……

In addition, Microsoft will release its Windows XP 64-bit edition this quarter (due in April) AMD Turion 64 should be the only standard to support the version before the availability of Intel’s 64-bit mobile CPU.

SapiensBryan.com Finally Mine !!

Friday 15 April 2005 @ 12:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m so glad finally i got my own domain name, sapiensbryan.com.
I bought it just because I hope I can own something that really belongs to me (unless there is another blogger named “sapiensbryan” :D ).

Before I used www.sapiensbryan.com as my blog’s domain name, www.wisewit.com was the domain for my blog. I felt it’s better to use my original nick as the domain name for the sake of easy to remember, though “sapiensbryan” is a bit longer. :p

As you can notice, when you type www.wisewit.com into your web browser address bar and hit Enter, you will be directed to www.sapiensbryan.com. I will still remain this redirection for 1 month, just in case some readers do not know about this Site Update.

www.sapiensbryan.com is my one and only blog, you can safely forget about www.wisewit.com because this domain name will not be used after 1 month.

So, please bookmark www.sapiensbryan.com by pressing “CTRL + D” while you are browsing the main page.

Note:
From now onwards, remember only www.sapiensbryan.com. :)

Intel Gonna Ship Dual Core Too

Wednesday 13 April 2005 @ 1:54 pm

Just a few days after AMD announced the shipment of their Dual Core processor, Intel is up to the challenge by announcing they are going to ship their first Dual Core processor, Pentium Extreme Edition 840 processor, ahead of an official launch, which is expected to take place soon.

Pentium Dual Core

“The launch will be in the immediate future,” said Abhi Talwalkar, vice president and general manager of Intel’s Digital Enterprise Group, speaking with reporters at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Taipei. He said Intel’s dual-core announcement was “imminent.”

AMD is likely to be the first with the launch of its dual-core Opteron processors expected on April 21. However, Talwalkar declined to comment on when exactly Intel plans to officially launch the Pentium Extreme Edition 840.

Dell Remains Open to AMD

Sunday 10 April 2005 @ 7:49 pm

So glad to hear that Dell remains open to AMD.

In what amounts to one of the PC industry’s longest-running sagas of on-again, off-again courtship, Dell Chief Executive Kevin Rollins once again revived speculation that Dell could end its long-standing refusal to use Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Inc. chips.

However, Mr. Rollin also mentioned Dell would only turn to AMD if customers demanded it start using AMD chips and not just Intel’s.

Anyway, hope we can see more new Dell PCs utilizing AMD processors soon.

AMD Dual Core Opteron Due This Month

Sunday 10 April 2005 @ 6:32 pm

The long await AMD dual core processor, named Opteron, is finally going to be released on April 21, 2005. This launching date is months ahead of their original summer launch schedule.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based chipmaker also is expected to announce its dual-core chips for personal computers will go on sale in June.

AMD Dual Core Opteron

In an attempt to encourage rapid adoption, AMD will sell some of the new chips at the same prices as the corresponding single-core models they’ll replace, a source familiar with the products said. So, hopefully we can still enjoy low price dual core processors from AMD. Kodus to AMD !!

For more information, please read the sourse.

So, will AMD win the Dual-Core race? You judge. :)
