As mentioned in the earlier post about iTunes enabled phone, Motorola announced the launch of its iTunes enabled mobile phone, Motorola ROKR, yesterday, September 8, 2005. By the way, ROKR is pronounced as “rocker”.
The Motorola ROKR is the world’s first mobile phone with iTunes, offering the feature of transferring up to 100 songs from the iTunes jukebox to the mobile phone. The Motorola ROKR will pause the music automatically when user is taking a call and it offers the ability to listen to music while checking messages or snapping a photo.
There is a strange limitation as Apple and Motorola have an agreement that limits the number of songs allowed on a card to 100. However, users can create multiple 512MB SD memory cards with different playlists.
For the time being, the Motorola ROKR only available in the following countries :-
- the U.S.
- the U.K.
A quick glance on the specification of the Motorola ROKR :-
- GSM Triband 850/1800/1900 MHz
- 4.25 x 1.81 x 0.8 inches (thicker than iPod Nano :p )
- 262k colors screen (176 x 220 resolution)
- 3.77 ounces
- Apple iTunes mobile music player with dedicated one-touch music key
- Supports MP3, AAC, and protected AAC
- Memory expansion Slot for up to an additional 512MB SD card
Here is a detailed review of the Motorola ROKR. You may have a look of its full specification on Motorola website too. Besides, don’t forget to browse to Motorola homepage for a short flash introduction of the Motorola ROKR. :)

You try having telephony, GPRS and Bluetooth functions plus 2 stereo speakers on that Ipod and see… not to mention, expendable Memory and a camera. :P
Come on, dude.
It’s just a joke. :)I know you’ll come and knock me down. LoL …

wats the price in uk/us ah? btw wat do tink of tis phone compared to the sony walkman fone ah? akakaka :P
The main difference I think will be the songs transfer from iTunes Jukebox.
There are a lot of mp3 phones in the market these days, but none of phone is iTunes compatibled. So, there is a market for such phone to exist because of iTunes’s huge mp3 songs database.
hmm its ipod NANO or ipod NOVA?
=p
LoL … sorry, typo.
