Last week, I attended two of the most fascinating smartphone launches of this quarter in Malaysia, the Nokia N900 and Garmin Asus M10.
Nokia N900 is the latest N-Series smartphone by Nokia, featuring a new Maemo 5 Operating System. The aim of N900 is to deliver a PC-like experience on a hand-held device.
Some of the highlights of Nokia N900 are :-
- Maemo 5 (Linux-based Operating System)
- 600MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor
- 1GB memory (256MB RAM + 768MB virtual memory)
- 3.5-inch touchscreen with 800×480 WVGA resolution
- Full QWERTY keyboard
- Web browser with full Faslh 9.4 and AJAX support
- Integrated GPS with A-GPS
- 5 megapixel camera
- 32GB on-board storage, expandable up to 48GB with a microSD card
The Recommended Retail Price (RRP) for Nokia N900 is RM2,280 and is available since 27th March, 2010 in Malaysia.

Garmin Asus M10 is a new product of the co-branded strategic alliance between Garmin and Asus. It’s also known as the first Smart3 Phone, underlining the 3 concepts of Smart Phone, Smart Navigation and Smart Lifestyle.
Some of the notable features of Garmin Asus M10 are :-
- Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Professional Operating System
- 3.5-inch touchscreen panel
- Integrated Garmin GPS navigation (comparable to Garmin 1460 PND)
- 512MB ROM & 512MB RAM
- 800×480 WVGA display
- 5 megapixel camera
- 4GB on-board storage, expandable to 32GB with a microSD card
The Recommended Retail Price (RRP) for Garmin Asus M10 is RM1,499 and is available since 25th March, 2010 in Malaysia.
