Google has launched several new services in the past few weeks, such as Google Talk, Google Secure Access,Google Reader, etc. Yahoo, on the other hand, also launched two new service last week, one is Yahoo! Podcasts and another is Yahoo! News Search.

While Google has a dedicated search for blogs, Yahoo! makes sure their did not get left behind by launching Yahoo! Podcasts. This search engine enables you to search for any podcast in the Internet according to the keyword you typed in.

I just did a search using “Carlos Santana” to search for any podcast of the famous musician. The search was fast and I can actually listen to the podcast found right from the search result. Cool huh? For people who are using podcast, here is another way of getting visitors to your blog through search engine. :)

Yahoo! Podcasts & Yahoo! News Search

I read from this news source that Microsoft and Yahoo! are working out a plan to allow both their Instant Messaging (IM) Services, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger, to link with each other. Seeing the launch of Google Talk in August 2005, Microsoft and Yahoo have responded quickly enough to hunt down the new comer. These two IM services is currently serving more than 1/4 billion of users around the world. So, with the merge between them, their rival AIM and Google will have to think of a better strategy to counter it.

Well, the merge of MSN and Yahoo Messenger will mean communication between these two IM without using a third party client, such as Trillion.

MSN + Yahoo Messenger Merging

Ok, I guess I am getting fed up by keep on mentioning crazy domain offers from Yahoo! in the last few weeks. Now, here I go again shouting “Insanely cheap domain from Yahoo!, go grab one now!“.

Well, in less than 1 month after eBay confirmed the acquisition of Skype, eBay announced on Monday, 10 October, 2005, that its PayPal is going to acquire VeriSign’s payment processing business for USD$370 million. This acquisition will form a strong alliance between the famous e-commerce payment service and the payment security company.

So, who will benefit from this acquisition? Of course, for sure we as buyer or seller on the Internet will be benefited. As a quick response to Google’s plan to launch similar electronic payment service, PayPal has done a good job to consolidate its status as the largest online payments company.

eBay’s PayPal Acquires VeriSign Unit

Well, usually I will avoid writing the same news others have already posted, but this is too big as a news for all bloggers and blog readers as well. Even if I write about the same news, I will try to get as much extra information or links to add some value to my post.

Anyway, Google has just launched its latest service, Google Reader. I lost count how many new services has Google launched in this year. Basically, Google Reader is like a one-stop online feed reader, which allows you to subscribe to any website with any form of feeds (RSS or Atom) then read them online.

I ain’t going to write a review of Google Reader, instead just to give you some idea what are the basic features. Other than subscribing to the feeds that you have known from the website that you visit often, you can search and subscribe to new feeds too. For example, as shown in the following figure, say you want to subscribe to feeds regarding mobile phone, the search will give a list of famous websites’ feeds.

Google Reader – A Place To Read Feeds

As we have seen in the post of a Super Laptop, there is a possibility of having 1TB (Terabytes) (1,000GB) of memory and 2TB of storage space for a Laptop. Hence, you probably wont feel surprise when Dr Hwang Chang Gyu, the CEO of Samsung, one of the world’s largest flash memory manufacturer, suggested that laptop hard drives will be replaced by solid-state Flash memory in near future.

In fact, Samsung has just developed an incredible 16GB NAND chip using 50nm (Nanometre) technology. Seeing this technology breakthrough, Dr Hwang continued to suggest that NAND flash technology development continues to double density growth on an average of every 12 months. Hence hopefully by late 2006/07, we will see laptop memory with 32GB of NAND memory, based on nineteen of 16GB flash chips.
