My First Ever WordPress Plugin – Submit It Plugin

Tuesday 7 March 2006 @ 12:09 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m so glad I finished my first ever WordPress plugin today. I named it Submit It.

Submit It WordPress Plugin

Submit It is just a simple plugin as shown in the picture. You can try it out at the end the written artile in any post. The plugin will insert some pieces of codes in every single page to show the links. Basically, the plugin allows you or your readers to submit a particular post of yours and bookmark it at any of the popular blog services as linked in the plugin.

I saw these links in quite a lot of blogs but have not seen any plugin for it. So, I created myself after one of my blog buddies, n305er sent me some of the basic codes. Submit It plugin was created with “easy to use” goal in mind. You just need to put only 1 line of code into the PHP file and start using the plugin.

I will write a detail tutorial of installing this plugin later in a separate page so that everyone can freely download and install it into your WordPress blog.

By the way, I’m not a PHP programmer expert, so if you find any bug or problem using the plugin, please let me know. Fell free to tell me your opinion about this simple plugin as well, like do you find it useful?
Thanks.

Nazi 64-Year-Old Encrypted Codes Cracked

Saturday 4 March 2006 @ 3:37 pm

Enigma MachineThis is an interesting news that again shows how useful a computer can be. Using a network of computer terminals, 3 German cryptography enthusiasts have successfully cracked one of the most complicated encrypted codes used by Nazi army during World War II back in 1942.

The complex ciphers were encoded in 1942 by a new version of the German Enigma machine. Part of the reason Allied army losses in the North Atlantic throughout 1942 was the advancement in this German encryption techniques.

Quoted:
German messages were encoded using the fearsome Enigma machine, which used a series of rotors, often augmented by a so-called “plugboard”, to scramble transmissions not meant for Allied eyes.

The machines used ever-changing rotor wheel combinations and electrical currents to produce unique coded messages.

Plugboards further complicated matters by swapping pairs of letters over during the encoding process, greatly increasing the numbers of possible encryptions.

Stefan Krah is the one started this tedious decrypting process mainly motivated by his basic human curiosity. He wrote a custom code-breaking program which initially attracted about 45 users to run his program on their computer for the cracking project. The project is now having around 2,500 separate computer terminals contributing.

Save GTalk Chat History

Tuesday 7 February 2006 @ 11:40 pm

Google
Both MSN and Yahoo Messenger have its archive features so that we are able to save all chatting sessions for future reference or something. Initially Google’s GTalk didn’t have such archiving feature when it first launched, but the feature was just added into the instant messenger recently.

Surprisingly, not even Official Google Blog or GTalk Blog mentioned about this newly added feature. This only official article mentioned about new archiving feature can be found in GMail FAQ page.

GTalk Archive Setting

To use this archiving feature, you will need to enable it from GMail settings as shown in the figure above. If you feel keeping track of all your chat sessions in Google server, you can always turn the feature off at any later time.
