I’ve been thinking of getting a smartphone with PDA function since long time ago. However, I didn’t really go into surveying the features and prices for such device because most of them are cater for business and corporate users.
Out of a sudden, on September 27th Palm Inc. announced its first entry level smartphone : Palm Centro. It is designed for individuals and traditional mobile phone users. Not to mention it’s using Palm OS 5.4.9, not Wiindows Mobile other smartphone in the market using.

Today I received a forwarded email with some pictures taken at the same launching event in Korea :-

Though the event in Korea is more like an event for automobile, at least it catches more attention, no?
Oh ya, do you see the difference in quality between the models in yellow? Haha…
Well, there are more pictures after the jump.
Ever think of using a “mouse-like” device as pointing device for your TV instead of the dull TV remote control? You know, like having a cursor moving in your TV just like what we have for PC?
Hillcrest Labs actually has this revolutionary pointing device for TV called HÅMETM Interactive Media System.
Quoted:
Hillcrest Labs’ HÅMETM Interactive Media System combines the first graphical, zoomable interface for television with a patented motion control technology called FreespaceTM. Where Freespace is a motion control technology senses motion in three dimensions and precisely translates human motions into on–screen cursor movement.
This device is used with a special program to recognize hand movements and provides graphical interface for televisions. In fact, the HÅME software can be embedded in a broad range of digital media devices, including high definition televisions, set–top boxes, and PCs too.
Here is a video demonstration of this futuristic device by CNET. The device looks very promising even though it will only hit the market maybe another year later.
I bet all PC manufacturers are now bundling their computer with the latest Windows Vista operating system (OS) since the launch of the OS early this year. Most of the new PC are now built/designed for Windows Vista, but what about old PC that we are still using right now?
Many people, including myself, are curious to know whether is our PC Window Vista capable. I bought a Dell laptop end of 2006 and it is labeled Windows Vista capable. Hence, I have a chance to upgrade to Windows Vista for a minimal cost (some systems are entitled to free upgrade though). So, I headed over to Dell’s Vista Upgrade website to check for the cost of upgrading. This is what I got :-
The cost is reasonable, but what I was more curious is how efficient will my laptop become after upgrading to Windows Vista.
Hafiz Ismail, the author of Smart2Go review I posted last week, has done another excellent review with a couple of video shots.
If you have not downloaded the well written review, it is still available here (PDF, 573KB).
While a picture speaks a thousand words, a video speaks tenfolds more I would say.
Below are the supplement videos he generously provided.

Hafiz Ismail sent me a comprehensive review of Smart2Go he did last week. He is a Malaysian reader of this blog who currently stays in the UK. Not to mention he is an enthusiast of mobile application too. I sincerely thank him for the wonderful review and for informing me Smart2Go now supports maps in Malaysia!
