Google Factory Tour
We have seen some factory tours of computer device manufacturers before like, Gigabyte Factory Tour I posted back in April. I just come across Google Factory Tour a few hours ago, so thought of sharing with you all.

Google released on their press center about the factory tour which took place on May 19, 2005. There is a webcast clip of the tour, but I need to warn you first, it is a VERY long clip !! I spent not less than 20 minutes watching it, and after the 20 minutes Marissa Mayer (The 2nd presenter of total 13) is still continuing her speech. Anyway, no doubt it is very informative for anyone interested in knowing Google more. The clip covers how and why Google services are created.

Google Got Sued For Click Fraud

Friday 1 July 2005 @ 4:23 pm

Google
Click Defense Inc, a click fraud protection firm, filed the suit in California in the name of an unknown number of plaintiffs for an amount not less than $5 million. This law suit was filed in US District Court against Google alleging breach of contract, negligence, unjust enrichment, and unfair business practices due to the click frauds suffered by their advertisers.

Quoted:
Colorado-based Click Defense, a company that specializing in procuring rebates for advertisers, says the average cost per click is 50 cents. Disputing the 20% estimations, Click Defense alleges that click fraud on Google is as high as 38%.

The 18-page documented lawsuit claims that since 99% of Google’s revenue comes from advertising, Google has a huge financial interest in doing little about the instance of fraudulent clicks and criticizes the search giant for failure to disclose its own estimate of the number of fraudulent clicks.

Google
Google has just unveiled on Wednesday, June 29, 2006, a beta version of its newly developed Personalised Search service. Personalised Search allows the serch engine searched results based on what’s most relevant to the user.

For example, by using Personalised Search to search the word “tackle” might give different results for a footballer and a guy who is looking for ways to tackle a girl. :D The service builds on the Google My Search History feature launched as a beta in April. The service ‘remembers’ past searches, allowing users to quickly retrieve a recently visited page.

Google SMS
Since I blog about the Google Mobile Search, I might as well talk about Google SMS Service too. :)

Last month, I blogged about Google Into SMS Service, when Google acquired New York based texting (SMS) service provider, Dodgeball. I had a feeling that Google might have some plans to tap into SMS service sooner or later, now as I’ve expected they have Google SMS Service !!

Quoted:
Google SMS (Short Message Service) enables you to send queries as text messages over your mobile phone or device and easily get precise answers to your questions. No links. No web pages.

Google Launched Mobile XHTML Search

Tuesday 21 June 2005 @ 4:35 pm

Google Mobile Service
Google has just launched a new search service that only links to XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language) pages that have been formatted for display in small screens of mobile devices like PDA and mobile phone. Mobile users can already perform searches from mobile device with a Web browser and enter a query in the search box at Google.com or Google.com/xhtml. For your information, this blog is written in XHTML. :)

This week, Google added a new “Mobile Web” option to the pages. When this button is selected, users will only receive links to XHTML pages that have been formatted for the smaller displays of mobile devices.

In fact, Google also offers a similar Web search service for phones that support WML (Wireless Markup Language) instead of XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language). The WML search service can be reached at Google.com/wml. However, WML doesn’t support images, so searching for pictures isn’t possible using this service. Unfortunately, the newly launched Mobile Web option is not available on WML phones.
