Skype Cracked (Actually Reverse Engineered)

Tuesday 18 July 2006 @ 3:08 pm

A stunning blog entry by VOIPWiki revealed that a Chinese company have successfully reverse engineered the famous VOIP software, Skype. Charlie Paglee, blogger of VOIPWiki, received a call to his Skype from his friend who is working in the Chinese company and told him that the call is made through the cloned Skype software.

Cloned Skype
Picture taken from VOIPWiki.

Quoted:
We talked (on the cloned Skype) for a little over nine minutes before the call dropped. Then I called him back using my Skype and we spoke for another three minutes.

This cloned Skype client is able to use Skype’s network and act as one of the Skype clients. Doing so would possibly cause the current Skype Super Nodes and the network to deteriorate once too many non-Skype clients are being used.

Taipei Become World’s 1st Large-Scale Wireless City

Tuesday 18 July 2006 @ 11:54 am

Last August, I blogged about large scale WiFi city while San Francisco of the United State was planning to become a wide scale WiFi zone covering the whole San Francisco city. In less than one year, a recent news entry of The China Post is claiming that Taipei has now become the world’s first large-scale wireless city that 90% of its public spaces is covered with wireless Internet access. Though there is not exact figure of how wide the city covered.

4,000 access points (APs) was installed on all public facilities by WIFLY, a wireless service offered by Q-Ware Corp., under the commission of the Taipei City government. By end of this month, all MRT stations, city hospitals and public libraries, 826 7-11 convenience stores, 71 Starbucks coffee shops and major business districts will be able to enjoy the wireless service.

I’m Back And Theme Changed !

Monday 10 July 2006 @ 6:47 pm

Hi all,

It’s been more than 1 month I didn’t blog at all, sorry for the lack of update.
Final year thesis and World Cup took up most of my time last month. Thank God it’s all over!

As you noticed, I’ve just changed the theme of this blog to my own WordPress theme, AdsMinded, the theme for contextual advertisement (such as AdSense) publishers.

Due to reason my blog is slightly modded, I’m afraid the new theme would give you broken link or any sort of problem.
Please kindly drop me a comment here if you find any. Thanks a lot!

I’m now officially back to the blogsphere again. Besides, I’m thinking of covering more topics such as earning money on the Internet and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in the future. Stay tuned!
